'Striking new talent Ed Prosek brings a modern authenticity, passion and originality to the British Singer-Songwriter scene and is quickly establishing himself as an up and coming artist with serious prospects for the future.
In 2010, California native Ed Prosek brought his original flavor of orchestral folk music to Brighton. The son of an Opera composer, his musical talents emerged from a formal classical background, including years of study at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, and a stint with the notable Magik*Magik Orchestra. His current project is the culmination of his classical prowess and savvy pop sensibilities; producing a sound that transcends labels or the boundaries of genre. Accompanied by a seven-piece band and a string quartet, his most recent work, his re-imagination of Paul Simon’s classic: ‘Homeward Bound’ has been featured as the soundtrack to the newest Cathedral City ad campaign. His debut release, ‘California’, having sold several thousand copies since its release in June 2012, has established Ed as an artist to watch out for in the coming year. With his upcoming tour and follow up EP to be released Spring, 2013, the excitement and anticipation is building along with his dedicated and ever expanding fanbase.'

The Garden
Ed Prosek Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Guess that I was always destined to end up like this.
I heard we attend to a garden in our hearts.
It's how we know where we've been.
But I've never found a piece in the garden within.
I'll make sure to plant you a rose,
When I'm on my way back down.
But I wish you could hear me now,
Wish you'd hear me now.
Wish you'd hear me now.
We've planted rows, we fall just like all those before.
When we drop our petals for the first ones who open the door.
And all my life, I've been running from a dream.
And I don't know where I've been.
But I've never found a piece in the garden within
I'll make sure to plant you a rose,
When I'm on my way back down.
And I'll bang my chest and I'll howl like a ghost,
But I wish you could hear me now.
And I'll make sure to plant you a rose,
When I'm on my way back down.
And I'll bang my chest and I'll howl like a ghost,
But I wish you could hear me now,
I wish you'd hear me now.
The first verse of The Garden seems to be speaking to a feeling of isolation, being lost in the darkness, and a sense of hopelessness. Ed Prosek suggests that this is a predetermined fate, a fate that we are all designed for. However, he also suggests that we are all tending to a garden within our own hearts, a garden that shows us where we have been. But for him, this garden is empty, and it appears that he has been unable to find anything of value within it.
The lyrics take a turn in the chorus, as Prosek seems to be speaking directly to someone he cares about. He promises to plant a rose for them and let out a howl when passing them on his way back down. One can interpret this as a promise to provide something beautiful for a loved one, even amidst his own feelings of emptiness and being lost. It's a promise rooted in the metaphor of the garden, a place where things grow and beauty can flourish.
The second verse continues to explore the garden metaphor, as Prosek compares the residents of this garden to flowers that are destined to fall in order to make room for the new blooms. He describes himself as someone who has been avoiding a dream for his entire life, unsure of what path he has been on. But again, he has not found any answers or solace in the garden within his heart. The chorus repeats, and the song ends with Prosek expressing his desire that the person he cares about could hear him now.
