'Striking new talent Ed Prosek brings a modern authenticity, passion and originality to the British Singer-Songwriter scene and is quickly establishing himself as an up and coming artist with serious prospects for the future.
In 2010, California native Ed Prosek brought his original flavor of orchestral folk music to Brighton. The son of an Opera composer, his musical talents emerged from a formal classical background, including years of study at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, and a stint with the notable Magik*Magik Orchestra. His current project is the culmination of his classical prowess and savvy pop sensibilities; producing a sound that transcends labels or the boundaries of genre. Accompanied by a seven-piece band and a string quartet, his most recent work, his re-imagination of Paul Simon’s classic: ‘Homeward Bound’ has been featured as the soundtrack to the newest Cathedral City ad campaign. His debut release, ‘California’, having sold several thousand copies since its release in June 2012, has established Ed as an artist to watch out for in the coming year. With his upcoming tour and follow up EP to be released Spring, 2013, the excitement and anticipation is building along with his dedicated and ever expanding fanbase.'

The Mountain
Ed Prosek Lyrics

Draped in a silhouette
Another hundred miles
Another carton of cigarettes
There's no where left to hide
From the lies we tell ourselves
I've already scaled your tallest peak
There's no higher I could go from here
Oh
Maybe it was obvious
I was never good enough, oh
She used me like a hungry drug
Run 'round the mountain, 'round the mountain
Oh, what she came here for
I'm the dead but in a raging storm, oh
She wears me like a crown of thorns
Run 'round the mountain, 'round the mountain
You hold me to your chest
Draped like a memory
We both wish we'd forget
But you keep coming back to me
All that we have left are the shards of this tired dream
I'm already on my knees my dear
There's no lower I can go from here
Oh
Maybe it was obvious
I was never good enough, oh
She used me like a hungry drug
Run 'round the mountain, 'round the mountain
Oh, what she came here for
I'm the dead but in a raging storm
She wears me like a crown of thorns
Run 'round the mountain, 'round the mountain
In my dreams, hold me closer
Tried to come clean but I always wake up
All these years, getting over
Tried to come clean but I always wake up
All my dreams, hold me closer
Tried to come clean but I always wake up
Maybe it was obvious
I was never good enough
She used me like a hungry drug
Run 'round the mountain, 'round the mountain
And when the flood came through
You were all I had to hold onto
And everyday I'm falling for you
Run 'round the mountain, 'round the mountain
'Round the mountain
The song "The Mountain" by Ed Prosek is a poignant ballad about a relationship that has fallen apart. It begins with the lines "Hold your head up high, draped in a silhouette, another hundred miles, another carton of cigarettes," which describe a sense of weariness and resignation. Prosek sings about how there is "no where left to hide from the lies we tell ourselves," suggesting perhaps that the couple has been in denial about the state of their relationship. He has already "scaled [her] tallest peak," indicating that he has done everything he can to try to make it work but still finds himself at a dead end.
The chorus repeats the line "she used me like a hungry drug," suggesting that his partner was addicted to the intensity that they shared but ultimately left him feeling empty and discarded. He describes feeling like the dead in a raging storm, wearing thorns like a crown, which speaks to a sense of martyrdom and suffering. As the song progresses, he speaks about the difficulty of trying to move on from the relationship, saying "all that we have left are the shards of this tired dream."
Overall, "The Mountain" is a moving portrayal of a relationship that has reached its conclusion but still haunts the singer. Its poetic lyrics and haunting melody make it a standout track on Prosek's album.
