Gigantic
Eddi Front Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
soon enough
take my ring off, sell the car
I wish you hell with your new
blonde bombshell
just as soon as I remove
the books stacked on the bed
where your legs used to rest
But now, now
I can't stand it
or bring home the flowers
this divorce is gigantic
and I've always been slow
To get off of some drugs
To let go of some loves
I'll crawl out of this hole
soon enough
In Eddi Front's song Gigantic, the lyrics tell a story of heartbreak and the struggle to move on from a failed relationship. The singer acknowledges that they need to pull themselves out of the emotional "hole" they are in, but it's clear that they are still deeply affected by their ex-partner's actions. They talk about selling their possessions, like a car and a wedding ring, in order to move on. The mention of their ex's new partner becomes a point of contention, with the singer wishing them ill will. The mention of the books stacked on the bed alludes to the loss of intimacy they once had. The chorus speaks to the enormity of what they are going through, with the divorce feeling "gigantic". Despite this, they acknowledge that they are slow to let go of things they are attached to and to move on.
The lyrics paint a vivid picture of what it's like to go through a painful breakup. The use of specific details, like the wedding ring and the books on the bed, creates a palpable sense of loss and longing. The refusal to let go of certain things speaks to the complexity of moving on from a failed relationship. The chorus's use of the word "gigantic" emphasizes how overwhelming the experience can be.

Music isn't always about melodies and vocal intonations. SOMETIMES they can be purely unadulterated exhibitions of emotion-- the way this song executes in the most perfect and simplistic, yet, elegant way. No bullshit in this song, or candyshop sales pitch about how painful a break-up or loss is. No complex story. The tempo and tone of the music and vocals harmonize perfectly to paint a beautiful, lonely and hopeless motif. If you don't like it because she's not wailing like Florence Welch and there's not a wide range of notes playing on the piano then you're missing the point completely and don't possess the capabilities of interpreting an abstract emotional piece of music to evoke emotion.

I normally don't listen to female balladeers, bur she seems to have something that most of them don't have, although I don't know what that is. This song just seems to hit a little harder than it should given her soothing vocals and spare instrumentation. Reminds me of Bonnie "Prince" Billy in the way it's so much more than the sum of its parts.

I have been listening to Eddi for months, the first time i heard her voice i instantly fell in love with her. Shes not a popular artist which i also love and honestly im suprised her video has gotten this many views but im so proud for her that its done so well. I'm also i huge fan of Lana which i have been for about 2 years now used to listen to her before the fame hit and im glad her career has done so well. Eddi has her own unique voice & she deserves to be noticed more & have a great career
