Baby I'm Wise
Eddie Bo Lyrics

Slippin′ and a slidin'
Peepin′ and a hidin'
I'm so glad I got wise

Rippin′ and a runnin′
Drinkin' and a funnin′
Baby I got hip to your jive
You slippin' and a slidin′
Peepin' and a hidin′
I caught you in the act last night

Oh you big conniver
Two-time jiver
Been told a long time ago

You been runnin' round
With that man cross town
Baby that hurt me so

You slippin' and a slidin′
Peepin′ and a hidin'
Won′t be like that no more

Oh you big conniver
Two-time jiver
I been told a long time ago

You been runnin' round
With that man cross town
Baby that hurt me so

You slippin′ and a slidin'
Peepin′ and a hidin'
Won't be like that no more

Oh well a shuck time baby
I don′t mean maybe
You better be movin′ on

Go ahead like I said
Before I lose my head
My love for you is gone

You slippin' and a slidin′
Peepin' and a hidin′
You better be movin' on

You better be movin′ on, yeah
Better be movin' on, yeah

Better be movin' on, yeah
Better be movin′ on...

Overall Meaning

Eddie Bo's song "Baby I'm Wise" is about a man who has become wise to his lover's infidelity. The chorus, "slippin' and a slidin', peepin' and a hidin', I'm so glad I got wise," suggests that the singer has caught his partner in the act of cheating on him. He sings about how he has become aware of his lover's lies and callous treatment, and how he has decided to move on from the relationship with the refrain "better be movin' on." The verses also describe the singer's shock and disappointment at his lover's betrayal, and his realization that he has been lied to for a long time.

God...I feel so fresh and healthy when I'm listening his music. And definitely can say what kind of music like most. I'm so glad that I discovered him.

@trfesok

Actually, this is a rework of a 1955 song called 'I Got the Blues For You", by Al Collins. John Lennnon covered "S&S" in 1975, so I put all these versions and more in my Lennon playlist. Thanks for the upload!

@jensclavin

A wonderful recording. I especially like the rolling drums and the very jazzy piano solo with cool blue notes.

@tyristori
