Official Bio
When you cut hair from your head and glue it to your face to look older, and give yourself a chance to be selected by a construction foreman who previously rejected you for a job four times, then you know how desperate Eddie Neblett was to support his family.
Eddie was born and raised in Georgetown, Guyana, South America. His mother raised him in the church and put him in the choir at the age of seven. In addition, Eddie simultaneously annoyed and entertained everyone by beating incessantly on sticks and cans as he created his own rhythms. His mom would later urge him to enter and sing in various shows.
One of Eddies greatest assets is creating lyrics on the spot to a track that he likes. As he grew in experience, he soon recorded his first song We can make it followed by his breakthrough hit Love N Unity with its infectious beat, catchy lyrics, and his now famous trademark, rapid-rap style. Love N Unity has become a kind of theme song in Guyana and is the recorded music you hear if you are put on hold when you call the Office of the President. Eddie was asked by the government to sing it at the closing ceremony for the Caribbean cultural festival, Carifesta, as well as at the Rio Summit of Latin American leaders.
Eddie continued to team up with his band of now eight years, Second Coming, to produce what is his favorite song, Anointed. His major musical influence has been Bob Marley, but his musical talent spans many genres, including reggae, soca and R&B. He has won numerous awards but none more prestigious than the two Accolade awards in November 2008.for Best Gospel Artist and Song.
He has performed at shows in Brazil with Second Coming and also in Barbados, Surinam, St Lucia, St Vincent and Trinidad. He was recently featured with the top gospel reggae band, Christafari, while they performed in Georgetown. Eddie has done seven videos and appears frequently on local TV as a spokesperson for the national telephone company GT&T. He is also GT&Ts spokesperson and advocate for HIV awareness.
In 2008, Eddie released his compilation album, Prophecies, which features 12 of his original compositions. He is currently working on a new album and plans to tour the East Coast of USA this summer. Eddies vision is to establish a global presence that will reach millions through the ministry of his music. Simply stated, Eddie defines success as being used by God.
Exclusive Interview with GospelReggae.com
GR: Tell us about yourself, where you were born and grew up, what your family is like, etc...
Eddie Neblett: I was born in Georgetown, Guyana and grew up there. My father left home when I was a baby and my mother raised me as a single parent, ensuring that I went to church regularly and instilling powerful values and principles which have served me well up to this day.
GR: How did you begin doing music?
Eddie Neblett: I began singing in the church choir at age 7. As my interest grew in music, I took every opportunity as a kid to sing and create music by beating sticks on anything to create a rhythm. Thats my earliest memory of doing music. The stick beating progressed into my being fairly accomplished now on the drums; I also play bass guitar in the church bandthats me on the bass in Anointed.
GR: Name one thing that fans do not know about you.
Eddie Neblett: Probably my sense of adventure and that I tried to get a job in construction at the Chinese Embassy when I was 18. I lined up at the site with about 50 other men for selection by the site foreman. He overlooked me for a week. Then he eventually told me I looked too young to hire. So the next week, I cut off some of my hair and glued it to my face to look older. He looked at me suspiciously for awhile when I returned and then recognized me. He realized how desperate I was and gave me a job.
GR: What is the most valuable lesson that you learned from your Mom or Dad growing up that you still apply today?
Eddie Neblett: To stand up for something or youll fall for anything.
GR: I know that you have written a whole heap of songs in the past, but what's your favorite one? Now, if that is too hard for you to answer, then tell me this; if you spent 5 minutes with an avid reggae fan and only had enough time to play them one of your songs, which one would you play them?
Eddie Neblett: Definitely Anointed..I worked really hard on that song because I knew I had to follow up my breakout song, Love N Unity, with something good to maintain some momentum.
GR: What's your favorite verse in the Bible and why?
Eddie Neblett: Philippians 4:13. I can do all things in Christ who strengthens me. Apart from it being a motivational scripture, it tells me that I must be totally dependent upon God in order to succeed.
GR: What is your philosophy of stage ministry? Is there any one message that you always want to leave with your audience?
Eddie Neblett: I always let them know that everything I do on stage is to bring glory to God and not to myself. I want everyone to leave with that message.
GR: What are the three things you enjoy most about touring? And least?
Eddie Neblett: Experiencing the cultural differences that are unique to the place I am visiting; meeting and sharing with the other musicians; meeting the fans; the least enjoyable is definitely being away from my family.
GR: What country would you tour (even if you didnt get paid to perform)?
Eddie Neblett: Brazil (our Portuguese-speaking neighbor), for the second time. I would like to visit for a longer period than my first trip so as to experience their rich, diverse culture.
GR: What goes through your mind before you go onstage at the average show?
Eddie Neblett: I always wonder if my monitor is at the level I want it to be. I have nightmares of it being too low and losing my voice by straining it to hear myself.
GR: Do you prefer being in the studio or on the road??
Eddie Neblett: I prefer to perform on the road. It is live and I get the chance to break it down, minister and establish a good rapport with the crowd.
GR: If you could whisper in the ears of youths aspiring to start a music ministry like yours, what would you say?
Eddie Neblett: Do not get involved if your motive is strictly money and fame.
Ministry
My ministry objective is simply to point every listener of my music to Christ. I am especially devoted to the task of empowering the weak or defeated, soothing the broken hearted, and setting the captive free through the power of Christ. Luke 4:18

Father I need ya, I need your help
Can't live this anymore (oh, no)
Father do me this favor
Help me change my behavior
Cause I just can live this way anymore (oh, no)
I need your help
I want to be the best
But right you know it's so hard
Cause i'm still a slave to the flesh, yes
And no one else has the answer
You the only hope left (yeah)
You see, I have made so much attempts
So many times I have prayed and repent
But just kept returning
And now the spirit man, is hurting
Can't live this anymore (oh, no)
Father do me this favor
Help me change my behavior
Cause I just can live this way anymore (oh, no)
Come save me from myself
I need your help
Sanctify, Purify, set apart yes
No one for Satan, hear your word come forth Lord
And there must be no guilt in me
I wanna stand blameless before thee
Because of judgement day, me no want you disown me
Can't live this anymore (oh, no)
Father do me this favor
Help me change my behavior
Cause I just can live this way anymore (oh, no)
Come save me from myself
I need your help
Attitude determines altitude
See in your presence I wanna be secured
Not only when I'm in the mood
You see sometimes I feel, like your anointing has faded
Feel so spiritual is igniting
So father I need you, to come to my rescue
Me no wanna be no Sunday worshiper
I wanna be more than that
I just wanna take a closer walk with you
And give you all I've got
Right now its time to wake, get my feet up
So father thanks for the shake up
Me gon' tell them straight up
That consecration is the way
Can not stay this way anymore
Father do me this favor
Help me change my behavior
Cause I just can live this way anymore (oh, no)
Come save me from myself
I need your help
Can not live this way (yeah, oh no, yeah)
(Can not live this way anymore oh, yeah)
