Star began his music career at age 17 when he began working with producer Arthur G. Wright (Billy Preston,Thank God It’s Friday). During the writing and recording of his first album Eddie worked with several diverse well-known musicians including Fred Schreuders (Hiroshima) and Don McCurdy (The Bottomfeeders, Dead Lazlos Place) before forming his band the Zero Effect. The band’s self-titled debut was a perfect blend of rock’n'roll and punk in the vein of such bands as Joan Jett and The Blackhearts, The Stooges and The Ramones all of whom first influenced the London, Ontario, native to pick up a guitar.
Eddie Star & The Zero Effect played non-stop gigs to rave reviews opening for and headlining with marquee bands including the legendary SST Recording artist Blood on the Saddle, Media Blitz, and Tuesday’s Waiting before disbanding in 1999 after a final performance at the legendary Whisky a Go Go. It was during this time that Star and Bob Mars (Tom Morello, Church of Mars) began working together. During the next few years they collaborated on and recorded more than 30 songs that would become the foundation of Joybox.
In 2006 Star founded Monroe Entertainment Records Group (M.E.R.G.) with his friend, mentor and music industry veteran Gary Monroe. The label’s first release was the critically acclaimed debut (Living in Silence) from MTV’s Battle for Ozzfest runner-up, Guilt by Association. Star has also acted on television (Bronx Zoo, Nightingales) and produced recordings with numerous independent artists (Andi Tomlinson – The Jubilettes).
After nearly two decades in the music industry, Eddie Star’s persistence and talent are a shining example of what can be achieved when you believe in yourself.

I'd sit in front of the tv
Watching all them super-heroes
And dreaming it was me
Now I am almost grown-up
So many things I see
I've looked into this whole wide world
And seen life's harsh reality
I feel your pain
I feel your heartache
I feel your sorrow
I feel your outrage
I am not your Savior
I ain't your Superman
I ain't someone who could save your life
I wish I could be superman
The strong man of steel
Then I could save all mankind
And all society's wounds heal
Faster than a speeding bullet
I could fly higher than a plane
I could protect the innocent and the weak
From all those acts that are so insane
I feel your pain
I feel your heartache
I feel your sorrow
I feel your outrage
I am not your Savior
I ain't not your Batman
I'm ain't someone who could save your life
No way
I wish I could be Batman
The hooded avenger of the night
Cruise around in my Bat-mobile
And turn all those wrongs into rights
But I am only a young man
Made of flesh and blood
I can't even save myself
From this wave of evil crude
I feel your pain
I feel your heartache
I feel your sorrow
I feel your outrage
I am not your Savior
I ain't your Superman
I'm not someone who could save your life
No way baby
I am not your Savior
I ain't your Spiderman
I'm not someone who could save your life
No way
The lyrics to Eddie Star's song "Savior" reflect the realization and acceptance of the limitations and vulnerabilities that come with growing up. The song explores the singer's childhood fascination with superheroes and the desire to be like them in order to save the world and make things right. However, as they mature and gain a wider perspective on life, they acknowledge the harsh realities and complexities of the world that cannot be easily fixed by one person.
The lyrics convey a sense of empathy and understanding towards the pain, heartache, sorrow, and outrage that others may be experiencing. The singer recognizes these emotions, but also acknowledges that they are not equipped to be the savior or hero that others may seek. They express a longing to possess superhuman abilities like Superman or Batman in order to protect and save humanity from the acts of injustice and insanity that exist in society. However, they come to terms with the fact that they are only human, limited by their own fallibilities and unable to even save themselves from the challenges and evils they encounter.
