True
Edith Frost Lyrics

Like my heart you left me blue
On the night you told me
You could never love me
You said you could never let me through
To you that was true
Though you'd never love me true
I could rush to meet you
Every single morning
I can't believe you never knew
A true act of gentleness
A true act of tenderness
Trueâ?¦
The lyrics of Edith Frost's song True poignantly express the pain and heartbreak of unrequited love. The singer compares her emotions to the color blue, which symbolizes sadness and melancholy, and likens her heart to this color because it was left in a state of despair by someone she loved deeply. The person she loved told her one night that they could never love her, which shattered her hopes and dreams of being with them. The line "On the night you told me, you could never love me" encapsulates the moment when the singer's world came crashing down.
Despite the pain and rejection, the singer still holds a torch for the person who broke her heart. She would rush to meet them every single morning if given the chance, even though she knows they will never love her in return. This unrequited love is a true act of gentleness and tenderness, which underscores the depth of the singer's feelings. The word "true" is repeated several times throughout the song, highlighting the singer's sincere and unwavering love for someone who will never love her back.
Overall, True is a heartbreaking and poignant song that speaks to the universal experience of unrequited love. The singer's raw emotions and vulnerability make this song relatable to anyone who has ever loved someone who didn't love them back.
