In 1939, he formed his own rumba band, "Rumba With Ros". In 1941, he gained recognition with the track "Los Hijos de Buda" and was playing regularly at the elegant Coconut Grove club on Regent Street, which attracted members of high society.
In 1946, he owned a club, a dance school, a record company and an artist's agency. His band grew to 16 musicians. His album The Wedding Samba sold three million copies in 1949.
In 1951, he bought the Coconut Grove and renamed it Edmundo Ros' Dinner and Supper Club. The club became popular for its atmosphere and music; it closed in 1965. From 1964 to 1968 he was the owner of the internationally known and very exclusive Edmundo Ros Club on Regent Street.
His album Rhythms of The South (1957) was one of the first high-quality LP stereo records. He was with Decca records from 1944 to 1974.
In 1975 (at the age of 65) he retired and moved to Jávea, Alicante (Spain). On January 8, 1994, he gave his last public performance. Ros was awarded the Order of the British Empire by Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, in the 2000 New Year's Honours List.

Su pelo sus ojos
Su manera de andar
Y sus gritos de loco
Conozco su olor
Y aunque tapen mis ojos
Escuchando su voz
Yo jamas me equivoco
Conozco su casa
Su cuarto, su cama
Su peluche que duerme
Pegado a su cara
Conozco a su gente
Mi amiga es su hermana
Que me cuenta sus sueños
Porque sueña en voz alta
Es algo que me quema
En mi mente se me queda
Su imagen grabada
Cada vez que le veo
Hay cada vez que le veo
No se
Me quedo quieta
O me lanzo hacia el
Sigo soñando
Me arriesgo a perder
Y es que me gusta tanto
Que en el siempre estoy pensando
No se
Me quedo quieta
O me lanzo hacia el
Sigo soñando
Me arriesgo a perder
Y es que me gusta tanto
Que en el siempre estoy pensando
No se...
No no nooo
No seeee
Conozco el camino
Y a las horas que pasan
Su color preferido
Y sus ropas de marca
Conozco el sonido
Cada vez que alguien llama
De su fuerte silvido
Que en mi mente se clava
Es algo que me quema
Y en mi mente se me queda
Su imagen gravada
Cada vez que le veo
Hay cada vez que le veo
No se
Me quedo quieta
O me lanzo hacia el
Sigo soñando
Me arriesgo a perder
Y es que me gusta tanto
Que en el siempre estoy pensando

Me quedo quieta
O me lanzo hacia el
Sigo soñando
Me arriesgo a perder

The lyrics of "Historia de un Amor" by Edmundo Ros and His Orchestra describe the love and attraction the singer has for someone they know intimately. The first verse speaks of how well the singer knows this person - their face, hair, eyes, and even the way they walk and shout. The singer also knows their scent and voice well enough to never mistake them. In the second verse, the singer describes knowing the person's home, bedroom, and even the stuffed animal they sleep with. The singer's friend is the person's sister and shares their dreams, which adds to the singer's thoughts about this person.
The chorus reveals the deep feelings the singer has for this person, admitting that they are risky and they could lose everything, but they can't help thinking about them all the time. The third verse mentions the person's preferred color and clothing brand, and the sound of their whistle that stays in the singer's mind. Once again, the singer admits to their burning desire for this person and the internal struggle of whether to approach them or not.
Overall, "Historia de un Amor" portrays a passionate and intense love that the singer can't resist, despite the potential consequences.
