On 1 March 2016, A Piece for Mind & Mirror by Skuggsjá, a collaboration between Kvitrafn and Enslaved's Ivar Bjørnson, was announced and streamed. Prepared for the 200th anniversary of the Norwegian Constitution, the album tells the history of Norway, and was released by Season of Mist on 11 March.
Selvik has also recorded with other projects including Det Hedenske Folk, Bak de Syv Fjell, Jotunspor, Sahg, Dead to this World and Faun. Furthermore, he has worked on the soundtrack for Assassin's Creed Valhalla.

The lyrics of Einar Selvik's "Bøn om ending, Bøn om byrjing" describe a world on the brink of destruction and rebirth. The opening lines let us know that there is no life left in the land, with the last flowers and water source drying up. The imagery of death is carried further with the reference to "daud att i berg og stein", suggesting even the rocks are lifeless.
The next verse introduces the idea of the "Eldsønene" or "fire sons" who come from the "Ur-heim" or primordial world. These beings are destroyers, and their purpose is to tear down what has been created. The symbol of chains crumbling and laughter echoing suggest that there is some kind of liberation happening, but it is tempered by the reference to "eiteren renn i frå ormens gap" or "poison running from the serpent's mouth".
The third verse touches on the concept of wisdom being unable to conquer hate and love being snuffed out in flames. The image of the "daudens nagl" or "nail of death" scratching across the forehead is especially haunting. The lines "Det som vart gøymd vekk, det veltar no fram" suggest that something that has been hidden is now being revealed, and this is connected to the "frie tanke" or "free thought" and "indre auge" or "inner eye". The final line of the verse "Vårt ekko skal ljome i tida" implies that whatever is happening is not just temporary but will have a lasting impact.
The closing verses describe a world in chaos, with no order or compassion. The references to "ulvetone" or "wolf tone" and "Gudekvinna" or "goddess" suggest a call to primal instincts, and the call to let everything burn down and start again. The last lines "Ingenting til Ingenting, Lat oss fødast på ny" have an almost nihilistic tone, as if acknowledging that everything we know is coming to an end.
