In order to overdose on fentanyl, you need to absorb up to 2-5 mg of the drug.

It is not possible to simply breathe in or inhale 2mg of fentanyl just by standing near it.

It is scientificly impossible. No one can see it personally bcs its physically impossible and we have many evidence to back up those claims.

You can not transfer 2mg of the drug by simply touching your nose, or through cloud.
In order to ovedose you need to snort, inject or eat a drug.

Some people inject up to 5-10mg daily and stay alive, but you think someone can overdose simply by breathing little bit of it, or touching it?

I have chronic pain I ended up leaving a doctor because he insisted that my pain was caused by stress turns out it had to do with tension and poor posture which pinched nerves and created muscle pain I didn't get better until I went to physical therapy but that was only after I had seen two other doctors also the doctor who said it was from stress refuse to do an MRI or CAT scan

Yesterday my cousin took a pill he thought was molly and he overdosed and stop breathing and I called 911 right away it took them 30 mins to get to the house because I live far out in the desert it was the scariest thing I seen he started shaking his eyes rolled back and his lips turned purple I poured cold water on him and the sheriff gave him cpr but luckily the paramedics showed up and gave him two shots of narcane and he woke up I was so happy to see him talk again I really thought he was going to die in my arms I’m just glad everything worked out. I'm a recovering heroin/fentenayl addict. Let me tell you this, I've handled tons of high potency fentenayl and never felt anything like that. It didn't transfer through skin. It has to go into your body for it to do anything.
Maybe the officer figured that by handling it that it would already be in his system so let's go ahead and snort a line of it. For someone to test positive you have to do a decent amount. Hmm makes you think twice

If this is a stress response, then the conversation needs to be about drugs AND mental health. I didn’t even know I had anxiety until last year when I found myself unable to eat and throwing up when I thought I felt calm. It builds up without you even realizing it. I overdosed on fentanyl, woke up in hospital after getting noracan started getting dressed to go home, the nurse came in ask what I was doing I told her I was going home she said no you’re not you will die if you go home!!! I'm astounded that the majority of other comments legitimately believe it is possible. Even if the officer took a handful of fentanyl, threw it up in the air, then tried to inhale as much of it as possible, that would still be very unlikely to cause an OD

It could have been carfentanyl which is considerably stronger than regular fentanyl. Also, if someone has no tolerance for opioids whatsoever, they would be at increased risk for overdose. The misinformation comes when the doctor says that airborne fentanyl dust can't cause an over dose. He's only speaking on what he has seen and experienced in life. Never discredit something without doing your own due diligence in investigation.

About 5 years ago, we discovered the F’in chinese created a new even more potent Fentanyl, it is called Fentanyl aural, or somethin like that. Its nasty, and will do THAT to someone who gets a tiny bit on exposed skin! Especially to a non junkie who has zero tolerance to opiods. Weve been dealing with “Carfentanyl” in this area for years, and its 2000 times more potent then morphine…its Elephant tranquilizer. Just one speck the size of a grain of salt will kill you in no time.

I think he touched it. He's literally the second officer on camera I've seen touch the stuff and fall over. The other guy actually had on vinyl gloves and fentanyl went through them. On his hands. He still had to be resuscitated. Maybe the doctors need to limit their professional opinions to people they're actually treating. If somebody has collapsed responding people need to be super careful and not touch them if someone else isn't there to help, just in case, because there's no way to know where it is unless you can really see and I wouldn't trust that. I don't do drugs so my good intentions could easily get me killed.

This Dr is one of those ones where if HE hasn't seen it personally, it doesn't exist lol. I have seen someone personally inhale it and the exact same thing happen. For all we know he could have had a cloud of it blow up in his face, or he could have unknowingly touched his nostrils for a itch, many things. I disagree with this alledged doctor, he wasn't there he doesn't know how the deputy was exposed, it could have been on his gloves when he removed them and been exposed through his skin. The doctor stating categorally that it wasn't a fentynal overdose , based on a few minutes of video is highly dangerous and unethical. We could presume that he was tested in the e.r to determine what caused the incident.

He really didn’t look stressed in the body cam video? I think it would be more astute of the doctor to say it was inhaled rather than through skin contact, causing the rapid reaction… in the cam footage one cop though it was heroin, so maybe it was ground up in a bag, and once that bag was opened pieces drifted out, akin to chalk.

Inform yourself further than just headline information.
He was handling the bag, testing it, and reaching into the car with no face cover for over 10 minutes.
Insufflated fentanyl just takes 5 min reach its peak.

What matters is an officer collapsed from something. Policing is hard, especially in this country. I know there is systematic racism but we should work with the police instead of against them. What's more, the availability of drugs and guns and lack of security cameras in the States makes policing hard; minorities suffers because of this.

I don’t think he just put his face up into the drug and sniffed it. He probably touched it not knowing it was Fentanyl, he wasn’t wearing gloves either which is probably why he had such a fast reaction with the drug and collapsed like that. Really you can’t judge something when you don’t know the whole story

Well the medical expert was right about just being close to it won’t cause that to happen. But if someone were to get fentanyl on the skin, it can actually get absorbed and cause an od. You can see the way how he took his gloves off was improper and could easily expose him to it. The medical expert probably didn’t notice that.

That officer would have literally had to have DIRECTLY sniffed PURE Fentanyl or another derivative of Fentanyl which can be many times stronger or weaker than medical-grade Fentanyl. He had either opened the bag and sniffed it; probably to check the smell to see if it was cocaine, meth, or heroin which is not proper protocol (obviously) or he was having some sort of panic attack and just rolled with it. The whole thing seemed like an act to me

Never understood why this was a question of being real or not. Read a lot of stories of people being merely in proximity or accidental touch causes non-users to Od & some don’t make it.

Officer was fine & didn’t look particularly stressed as he worked with this mess. He got a little too close, had no prior internal exposure so he OD’d easily from just a whiff or touch. OD’ing isn’t one size fits all in terms of how the body reacts.

(From all I’ve read, Narcan doesn’t bring one out of “stress” reaction).

@PandaDrug He passed out multiple times because he was probably having a stress/anxiety attack, definitely not an overdose since he woke up after the first dose meaning the narcan was bound to his opiate receptors and wouldn't unbind for a few hours. Meaning he couldn't have passed out twice from the same fentanyl exposure that only happened once. Narcan doesn't wear off in a few minutes, he wouldn't pass out from any opiate for as long as the narcan was bound to his receptors. Plus the department this officer belongs to admitted it wasn't an overdose.

I'm skeptical that this was an overdose.. it appears more like heat exhaustion or a previous medical condition. I watched the whole video, he tells EMT'S that this was the 6 or 7th time he's passed out recently and he has a history of tendinitis (severe headaches). I've seen several OD's and this didn't look like any I've seen before, those who have seen OD's know what I'm talking about.. I'm glad he's OK but if he has an issue of passing out regularly (like he told EMTs) it's not safe for him to be policing until it's resolved.

Just saw a vid on youtube like a month ago of an officer or sheriff who passed out handling seized substances and he was said to only be handling it for a few minutes, I think you can find that video as long as a number of others on youtube. Regardless, such substances can easily become airborne and not only get inhaled but can cover your arms, hands and clothes. Saw David’s video last week and felt terrible for him but glad he’s okay.

Not how it works. Passively breathing in a tiny amount, or having it touch your skin, literally cannot cause an OD. That is not possible, and any doctor can tell you this. It simply does not work that way, and requires actual ingestion in some form.

This is true. However that isn't what is observed here at all. The exposure is seconds at that. He clearly isn't caked in the stuff and is outside. The vehicle is a hatchback as well. Think about covid spread. The aerosol would disperse so unless he is railing it or shooting up before work this is absolutely not an OD. He took a tumble, i've done it. I'm sure you've passed out at an inconvenient moment in you're life. It could be stress it could be multitude of other things. But hundreds of doctors have come forward to dispute this and common sense with minimal working knowledge of exposure and metabolism mechanics would lead you to agree with them in this instance.

During his checking for positive ID of drug, he brought his gloved hand up to his face or nose cause he has a cold or sniffles. He could have accidently inhaled it then. Watch the video carefully. I believe he was definately exposed

I have seen a police officer OD on fentanyl just from handling it and skin exposure. I've also administered narcan to three different people who OD'd on heroin and or fentanyl. I don't know if that video of the cop oding is fake. But if it is fake why would the department put it together and release it for everybody to see? The truth would eventually come out and that's not going to make the department look good so what's the purpose of faking it.

Actually they never said he inhaled it. Also my wife is a paramedic and that's a legitimate overdose, people really do look like that when they go down. And the narcan only works for a certain amount of time. That is why he overdosed again in the back of the ambulance

He was clearly not wearing gloves and it is possible he mishandled it. They wouldn’t have given narcan if it wasn’t needed. This doctor seems like the type to tell a patient who says they’re in a lot of pain “you’re just exaggerating” after basic tests. Inside Edition needs to get a second opinion.

As someone who has overdosed similar medication (by mistake) there is no way you can fake that! If he was faking he would start screaming because they literally had a needle up his nose! When I was in that situation I was only partly aware so I couldn't really feel pain! If he was faking he would never have let that happen!

I had a client fake a heart attack, fool the EMTs and their EKG device. You have no idea what people can fake or in this case how panic attacks and general seizures look. I have revived tens of opioid ODs they don't look anything like this.

He wasn't overdosing, he was having a panic attack because he kept being told how dangerous it is to even be near fentanyl. You can't overdose on it while touching nor smelling it. The police aren't toxicologists, most only finish high school. There is no case where someone has OD'd while touching fentanyl, it's never happened.

If you OD on fentanyl by accidentally inhaling it, the effects would come on pretty gradually, think tens of minutes, you wouldn't just drop down like that. OD-ing by touching it would even be more slowly. Heck even if you inject it IV it still would take a couple of minutes for the effects to (fully) kick in.

That is possible, because Fentanyl is highly potent and dangerously unpredictable due to dealers mixing other drugs as well. Especially when a person has never done drugs, yes, it can become fatal. Some cops have even been seen collapsing just by handling the drug and they were wearing gloves!! The doctor needs to get out of his office and face the reality of how dangerous that drug is!

Even if his palms were drenched in sweat, he'd still need to be holding the drug in his hands for at least 15 minutes to even absorb 100 mcg, which is a therapeutic dose and wouldn't be close enough to cause an overdose. And even then it's iffy if he'd absorb any at all. It took pharmaceutical companies decades to develop fentanyl patches for a reason, it's incredibly difficult to administer that drug through the skin.

You’re leaving out the most important context for that passage; the amounts you’d need to ingest in order to overdose. There’s a reason why it took Pharma a decade or so to develop Fentanyl patches. The doctor should have watched the whole video. The officer had a runny nose kept handling the substance multiple times most likely rubbed his nose. Then when he went to bag up the drugs took off his gloves not carefully he balled it up in his hands and (that’s probably where the moisture part kicks in) then fainted.
