Another Story
Electric Youth Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Who can help me out
I know I wasn't born with this flag upon my head
He ran away
he said that he'll be back and I'm hoping he's not dead
Said that the day you hear that sound
of my footsteps on the ground
lock all of the doors and answer to nobody
I know all that I'll die today
I close my eyes to find my way
and the world in time to them it's just another story

I know all that I'll die today
I close my eyes to find my way
and the world in time to them it's just another story

I don't know how but somehow I made it out for the first time now plain.

This world is strange
So how i'm supposed to find my way but the screaming above my head

then I'll talk what I heard them sound of your footsteps on the ground and in time we ask that it never be you.

I know all that I'll die today
I close my eyes to find my way
and the world in time to them it's just another story.

I know all that I'll die today

I close my eyes to find my way
and the world in time to them it's just another story.

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Electric Youth's song Another Story appear to be a heartfelt expression of the challenges of life and the feeling of being lost in the world. The song is about searching for answers and seeking help when feeling overwhelmed. The opening lines "Who can help me out? I know I wasn't born with this flag upon my head" suggest the feeling of being different or not belonging, and seeking guidance from someone who can help navigate through life.

The next verse describes the fear and uncertainty of a loved one's absence, with the hope that they will return safely. The line "Said that the day you hear that sound of my footsteps on the ground, lock all of the doors and answer to nobody" implies a sense of danger or threat.

The chorus speaks to the inevitability of death, and the search for meaning and purpose. The repetition of "I know that I'll die today, I close my eyes to find my way" conveys the importance of introspection and self-reflection, while the phrase "and the world in time to them it's just another story" may suggest a sense of disillusionment or lack of empathy from others.

Overall, Another Story is a poignant and emotional song about finding one's place in the world and the search for guidance and understanding.

Every track on this album is fantastic. This one takes me to some other dimension though… this is my personal favorite track. It makes me imagine that you experience the most intense story with a lover only to realize that in the grand scheme of things or when you tell the stories to others it’s just another story…. So it’s the most powerful story for you but almost meaningless story to others. So I guess the lesson is to be about your story and don’t worry about others. This could totally NOT be what the song is about, but this is what it feels like for me. Such a classic modern album.
