Hello and welcome to this guided, little light meditation designed to tap into the transformational and cozy energy of autumn. Fall is a season categorized by the winds of change. This season of harvest. c season of transition and letting go. It embodies the impermanence of nature (the natural world), highlighting the beauty and importance of being mindful and present in the moment as well as the importance of being able to float with the wind in order to transform and to grow.
Find a safe and comfortable position preferably seated in a chair with your feet firmly on the floor. Sitting up straight with your spine nice and tall. Rest your hands on your thighs or knees, palms facing down.
Once you are settled with your crown to the heavens and your feet firmly planted on the ground, close your eyes, and take a moment to find and feel your breath. Take a deep, cleansing breath in through the nose and exhale out through the mouth with a deep sigh, relaxing the shoulders releasing all the worries around if you are sitting correctly or not. With a soft smile on your lips inhale through the nose and then exhale through the mouth with a deep sigh releasing all the thoughts of everything that happened before you sat down. Once again, inhaling through the nose and exhaling through the mouth releasing all the thoughts surrounding everything you need to do after this meditation. cllow your breath to return to its natural rhythm, inhaling and exhaling through the nose, bringing your attention to the flow your breath and how it feels in your body in this moment, without changing, controlling, or passing judgement on it, Notice your breath traveling in and out of our body in this moment. Throughout this guided meditation as thoughts float in and out of your mind, be kind to yourself. Notice them without judgement, release them and bring your attention back to the meditation.
Bringing your awareness to your feet making contact with the ground tuning into the powerful, grounding energy of the earth. (Picture that energy as a golden light. Inhale, visualize bringing that energy up through the souls of your feet to your knees, exhale picture and feel that golden energy getting brighter (and sending it back down to the earth). Inhale, picture that golden light traveling up to your hips, exhale feeling that golden, grounding energy growing stronger (in you). Inhale bringing the light and energy up to your shoulders, exhale picture it growing brighter and stronger. Inhale bringing it up to the crown of your head, exhale growing brighter, Take a few breaths to picture and feel that grounding energy of foundational support and strength surging through your whole body, and then send it back down to the earth continue to feeling grounded, supported, and secure.
Visualize yourself as a beautiful abundant tree, branches filled with leaves all the rich colors of autumn with a strong root system running deep into the earth. With each breath picture that system slowly growing and anchoring deeper into the earth, absorbing nutrients and drawing the vital lifeforce up into the base of the trunk of the tree.
Picture the base of the trunk emerging from ground. Is it surrounded by a mound of dirt, a mound of grass or a mound of dry leaves? Notice whatever comes to mind without judgement. What does this area look like? What does it feel like? What does it smell like? What does it sound like?
Traveling up the strong, sturdy trunk. What does your trunk look like (what kind of bark is it? What does it feel like, is it smooth, bumpy, rigid, rough? What does it smell like?
Traveling up the trunk to the branches reaching out in all directions like the limbs of a dancer. The ones at the crown reaching up toward the sun filled with golden, amber, garnet, amethyst, and chocolate leaves whispering in the crisp cool air of fall.
Picture the farmers around you harvesting their crops and the animals storing food and getting cozy in their spaces preparing for the winter ahead.
Bringing your attention back to the whispering leaves in a myriad of fall colors, primed to float away on autumn's cool breeze. picture the things in your life at this time that no longer serve you, that you have outgrown, that might be holding you back or that you are ready to shed or release as these leaves on your branches. cnd when you are ready, visualize releasing these leaves that no longer serve you to the winds of change. Picture them begin to float down to the ground, creating beautiful mounds of colorful leaves. These leaves will eventually break down providing nutrients for the soil that nourishes you, preparing it so more plants can grow in the spring ahead. The same way that shedding these things that no longer serve you provided you with the lessons you needed to transform and grow. Take a few more moments being this strong, grounded tree, deeply rooted in the earth, branches reaching for the heavens, in the midst of turning over a new leaf......
cnd when you are ready bring your awareness back to your physical body anchoring yourself with the flow of your breath. Once again noticing where your feet are firmly planted on the ground and feel the crown of your head reaching toward the heavens. Then begin to wiggle your fingers and your toes and when you are ready, open your eyes. Virginia Woolf wrote "cnd all the lives we ever lived and all the lives to be are full of trees and changing leaves..." May you go into the rest of your day/this season ready to embrace the changing leaves and may your little light always shine bright, Namaste.
