Eleventh Hour had lady marmalade on their greatest hits album, but it was not released as “Single”.

The original Lady Marmalade released to the World as single was done by Patti LaBelle, Sarah Dash and Nona Hendryx (Labelle)

Have you never heard some artist say, the first time they heard a song? Because when songwriters and producers pitch a song to a record label they use a demo recording.
I’ll make an example , The song “My Girl” by the Temptations, was written by Smokey Robinson. Smokey did a version in studio and had the temptations hear the song and then they recorded.
Even though Smokey wrote the song , the Temptations are known as the original hit makers of the song.
Ne-Yo wrote the song “Irreplaceable” for Beyoncé, he recorded a demo version of the song, she liked it and she recorded it and it became a Hit.
If this Eleventh hour version was released as single, it would have been a different story. But it was recorded with the intention of being a demo for Labelle. They later added it into their greatest hits lp.
The eleventh hour was not show band, they were a studio band mostly. They would play on records.
Demo versions of songs are not recorded to be released as “Singles”, they are recorded for another or artist to listen and then to record.
The eleventh hour lead singer Kenny wrote songs with bob crewe.

shows how much studio work these songs are all about. Patti Labelle(not her real name btw) was actually not a very good singer, not from the South and had no idea what the French words were. Definitely right person for this RAUNCH tho!

Andrew Doolittle she’s from philli and has never denied that her name is patticia(patti) labelle was the name of the group she was in which she was the LEAD singer of AND she still hits the same notes at 70 she’s always been a strong singer and looks like she’s in her 50s

The song was written by Bob Crewe and Kenny Nolan, and was inspired by Crewe's experiences in New Orleans and the sex workers in the area.[citation needed] A demo of the song was first recorded by The Eleventh Hour, a disco group made up of studio musicians fronted by Nolan on vocals.[4] It was added in 1974 as a track on the Eleventh Hour's Greatest Hits LP which did not chart.[5][6] Crewe showed the song to Allen Toussaint in New Orleans, and Toussaint then decided to record the song with Labelle (thank God).
