Nocturne

Sov på min arm! Natten gömmer
Under sin vinge din blossande kind.
Lycklig och varm - snart du drömmer.
Flyr mig i drömmen som våg flyr vind.
Vill inte, vill. Och blir åter kysst.
Slumra, min vän! Natten skrider.
Kärleken vaktar dig ömt och tyst.
Um, um...
Sov på min arm! Månens skära
Lyftas ur lundarnas skugga skyggt.
Och på din barm, åh, min kära,
Täljer dess återglans timmarnas flykt.
Helig den frid hjärtat hyser
Mitt i den virvlande blodstormens larm!
Slut är din strid. Månen lyser.
Vårnattsvind svalkar dig. Sov på min arm!
Oh, oh..., ha, ha..., yeah, yeah...
Slut är din strid. Månen lyser.
Vårnattsvind svalkar dig. Sov på min arm!
Hum, hum...
Sov på min arm!
The song "Nocturne" by Elisabeth Andreassen expresses a sense of calm and comfort amongst the chaos of life. The lyrics depict someone gently holding another person as they sleep, offering protection and love. The night is said to hide the "blossoming cheek" of the sleeper, suggesting a need for secrecy or safety. The lyrics also describe the moon casting its light on the person's chest, marking the fleeting passage of time. The refrain "Sov på min arm" reinforces the intimacy and tenderness of this moment, encouraging the person in the sleeper's embrace to rest easy and trust in their love.
This song was originally performed by the Norwegian group Secret Garden in the 1995 Eurovision Song Contest. It won first place, making it the first Norwegian song to take home the trophy. Elisabeth Andreassen, who sings this version of "Nocturne," has also competed in Eurovision multiple times, representing Norway and Sweden. Interestingly, this song is entirely instrumental in the Secret Garden version, and Elisabeth Andreassen added lyrics to it later.
