I used to like black a lot and dressed very goth, and I stopped when my depression got much worse because I didn't even have the energy to think about what to wear, and people somehow thought that I got better instead? And years later I found out that a lot of people I talk to now were actually straight up afraid of me because of how I dressed? Like they told me "Oh I used to be so scared of you, you looked so mean and intimidating in your black clothes and spiky jewellery." and it honestly hurt a lot because I never thought that I looked intimidating? Like I have crazy social anxiety and I always thought that it had to be very visible.

I am super glad this came up in my recommended. she has such a beautiful voice and such a unique style. people always assume people who like pink and pastels are all innocent and have cute personalities. I also love the song, it's so unique and shows that what's on the outside isn't always what's on the inside. she's also is very beautiful and isn't afraid to express herself, I look up to people who aren't afraid to show the real them and not hide what they really are because of people who might judge them.

I love this song so much. This is a very powerful message that you don’t have to be dark and sullen to have depression or any conditions like that. You can still wear brights and pastels, or in this case, pink. Wearing these colors doesn’t mean you are perfect and happy on the inside. You can’t judge a book by its cover. I’m sure there are people we see every day and assume their emotional status because of what they wear or how they express themselves. I know this song is mainly about dressing alternatively and being proud of it, also going on the lines of even though you dress alternatively you can still feel sick/upset with yourself, but really the second chorus hits hard for me personally. I believe that I may have ADHD (don't fret, I've done some pretty hard research and do believe I may have it), and "Don't understand all your rules" and "Don't see the world in the way that you do" kinda hit me because I feel like I may not understand social cues and how the world works very much. "I represent what's on the inside" also kinda hits because I feel it's a declaration: I don't wanna dress just to cover up my feelings, I want to be proud of them and let them show, no matter how the world percieves me. "You don't understand though, you stay in the shallow" also connects to society being kinda closed-minded about ADHD and also about how people dress?

Also "I've worn the same t-shirt, I haven't washed my hair." Because...I don't take very good care of myself. I'm trying, I swear.

tl;dr: I may have ADHD and the second chorus of this song connects to my mindset about the world and how it kinda sucks! But it's OK!! :DDD

If we're speaking technically then, pink doesn't actually exist. It doesn't appear on the UV scale and on the Rainbow. Only very vibrant hues of neon purple do. Our brain just makes up the color pink because it needs something to feel in the gap.

Dear Elliot,I’m a young listener of yours and I’m currently obsessing over this song,the more I listened to this song I realized how much people that wear J-Fashion or something different than what “normal people” wear struggle when they go outside,they get people taking photos/recording them,calling them freaks for dressing differently,misunderstanding those people based off of what they wear,I’ve been convincing my parents to buy me pastel clothing and Lolita dresses and this song explained what was coming,I’m nervous that I’ll get judged but happy that I at least get to wear what I like for once,so right now I’m a supporter of people who dress in a very extreme/different way soon to be experienced 💕
