Their debut album, "Embrace the Eternal", showed a change in style as Embodyment added elements of metalcore to their death metal sound (Embrace the Eternal is one of the earliest deathcore records). "Embrace the Eternal" featured re-makes of the songs "Golgotha" and "Religious Infamy", which were originally from their demos, as well as guest vocals by Bruce Fitzhugh, vocalist for seminal Christian metal band Living Sacrifice.
After the departure of Kris McCaddon on vocals, Embodyment welcomed Sean Corbray as vocalist and recorded "''The Narrow Scope of Things''", released in 2000. This album was the band's first step away from any of the heavier metal subgenres. Instead, their sound on the album was adjusted to alternative metal with hard rock influences and was the first album to feature actual singing and some screamed vocal parts rather than any form of death vocals.
Embodyment next released Hold Your Breath in 2001, an album which saw the removal of all screamed vocals and yet more slight shift away from the remaining metal influence there had been on "The Narrow Scope of Things". Their last album, "''Songs for the Living''", released under [[XS Records]] in 2002, completed the band's transition to alternative/indie rock and was originally made as an industry demo meant to get the band signed to a major label.
Embodyment later disbanded in early 2004 to the disappointment of loyal fans.

Moving On
Embodyment Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Turned my back, growing
And setting out, boldly
I'm making up for lost time
Coming home
And I swear it's true
I need you
Abandon ship, learning
Drop my guns, open
Tear my core, broken
I'm making up for lost time
Coming home
Don't break my neck
Hold your own
Drink in deep, cherish breath, moving on
And I swear it's true
I need you
And you swear it's true
We're never through
Build this up, stronger
Hold you close, always
The lyrics to Embodyment's song Moving On tell a story of personal growth and the challenges that come with it. The first verse describes someone who was once held back but has now been set free to pursue their dreams. They are full of energy and determination to catch up for the lost time that held them back in the past. However, in the chorus, the person realizes that they need the support of others to complete this journey. They are coming home and rely on the person they are singing to. It is an admission of vulnerability and the need for help.
The second verse is about embracing change and letting go of past behaviors that didn't serve the person well. They are learning to leave behind their old ways and become open to new experiences. This is a challenging time for the person, and they feel heartbroken and shattered, but they are willing to go through this to make up for the lost time. In the chorus, the person sings about the importance of staying connected and holding on to one another as they move forward. Despite the ups and downs, they have each other, and that is what will help them build a strong future.
