Familiar Drugs
Embracer Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Dizzy in my blur
The blood that's in my veins
Might kill me faster
Than familiar drugs
I think you said
This is all just temporary
Spinning in suffering
The ending never justifies the meaning
Sharp when it hits
Because my anger never sets
And I know
Failure has been a familiar hand to hold
I've been keeping alive
By killing myself with anything
An unfamiliar high
I'm just afraid of the fall
The medicine I'm abusing
It's hard to fight when I know I'm losing
Spinning in suffering
Life is only temporary
Familiar drugs just keep me spinning
I don't wanna come down from this feeling at all
At all
Spin in suffering
Spin in suffering
Suffering
Suffering
Suffering
The song "Familiar Drugs" by Embracer portrays the struggles of addiction and the consequences that come with it. The first few lines suggest that the singer is relapsing and their vision is blurry. The following line, "The blood that's in my veins might kill me faster than familiar drugs," highlights the severity of their addiction and how it's taking a toll on them.
The second verse talks about the temporary nature of life and how fast it moves. The singer acknowledges that their anger is a problem and that they have become familiar with failure. They are using anything and everything to keep themselves alive, even if it means killing themselves in the process.
The chorus seems to be a cry for help as the singer says they don't want to come down from the feeling of familiar drugs. They are spinning in suffering and seem to have accepted that life is temporary.
Overall, "Familiar Drugs" brings to light the dark reality of addiction and how it can consume a person to the point of no return. The lyrics are raw and emotional, giving listeners a glimpse into the mind of someone struggling with addiction.

WOW! This is such a beautiful and emotional song! I was so surprised that they arent more well-known.
"Losing concentration
I can’t make out the lines
Of your face
If I don’t focus now I’ll
Lose it in the smoke and flames
Burning everything inside
Raging and twisting my mind
I miss everything I was
I hope I’m thrown into the fire"'
Really connected with these lyrics. Lost my Mom a few years ago and sometimes I feel like I'm forgetting what she looks like. When she passed away, I felt like I lost a piece of myself and went through a really intense downward spiral. I'm a lot better now but thought i'd share my thoughts on this song. It says everything I was feeling during that time.

It should be a crime for this to not have gotten more attention. This is a very beautiful song. That opening is one of the most catchy openings I've ever heard.
