Emily montes Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I'll jump off a cliff for you
Do whatever you want me to
Just remember I love you
Nicki, are you mad 'cause I dissed you?
Are you mad that I rap better than you?
Oh you're sad now?
Get a tissue
I went to Walmart and I couldn't even find you
You dropped the crown and I picked it up
I'm the queen now, and shut the heck up
Please stop your rapping
The crowd's stopped clapping
They're looking for me
I am your enemy
You can call me Queen Emily
Can't nobody tell me nothing
Can't nobody tell me nothing
Can't nobody tell me nothing
Imma take my horse to the Old Town Road
Ride, 'til I can't no more
Can't nobody tell me nothing
The first two lines of the song, "I'll take a bullet for you, I'll jump off a cliff for you," is a representation of the depth of love the singer has for someone. She's willing to do anything for this person, as stated in the third line, "Do whatever you want me to." The chorus of the song stresses the importance of love, as the singer affirms that her love for this person is genuine and strong.
The second part of the song shifts its focus to a diss track, where she addresses Nicki Minaj. The lyrics, "Nicki, are you mad 'cause I dissed you? Are you mad that I rap better than you?" shows the singer challenging the rap game's queen. The last few lines of the verse, "You dropped the crown and I picked it up. I'm the queen now, and shut the heck up," explicitly states that the singer believes she's the new queen and admonishes Nicki to stop rapping.
The final part of the song goes back to the chorus, "Can't nobody tell me nothing. Imma take my horse to the Old Town Road," showing that no matter what criticism comes her way, she'll continue to do what she loves- sing and love the people she cares about.
