Havenless
Enslaved Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

"Dei for ifra nord
Mot ei anna tid
Bak låg brende ord
Framfor dei ei ny strid

Dei såg såg stormar i det fjerne
Men haldt fram og beint
Inn mot jordas kjerne
Frå tidleg mot seint"

I see a darkness overwhelming
I see that there is no light for me
I don't care if it leaves me blind
I don't care if I'm left behind

I see a white horse's head
I see it's dead stare fixed at me
I do not fear its eyes
Curse myself, return it twice

I see walls to high to climb
I see nothing on the other side
I should have roamed another space
I should have been another place

"Dei daue gror opp av havet og ropar så sårt mot land.
Dei ropar bak alle skuter, som kavar seg tungt forbi"

I am among ghosts when I should rest
I cannot tell the worlds apart
I do not heed the words they say
There is no dream of another day

I hear a silence, deafening
Drowning the deserts, that is my destiny
I no longer wish to see
The threads they've spun for me.

"Dei for ifra nord
Mot ei anna tid
Bak låg brende ord
Framfor dei ei ny strid

Dei såg såg stormar i det fjerne
Men haldt fram og beint

Inn mot jordas kjerne
Frå tidleg mot seint"

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Enslaved's song "Havenless" speak of a sense of darkness and turmoil felt by the singer. The opening lines, "Dei for ifra nord / Mot ei anna tid / Bak låg brende ord / Framfor dei ei ny strid" (translated: "They left from the north / Towards another time / Behind them lay burning words / Ahead of them a new battle"), suggest that the singer is embarking on a new journey or confronting a new challenge. They are aware of the storms that lie ahead, but they press on towards the core of the earth.

The imagery used in the lyrics is often bleak and foreboding. The singer sees a white horse, a traditional symbol of death, and feels no fear or remorse. They see walls that are too high to climb and are tempted to abandon their path. The repetition of the line "Dei såg såg stormar i det fjerne / Men haldt fram og beint / Inn mot jordas kjerne / Frå tidleg mot seint" reinforces the idea of persevering through difficult times despite the challenges that may lie ahead.

Overall, "Havenless" is a powerful commentary on the struggle to overcome challenges and find hope in the face of adversity. The singer acknowledges the darkness around them but refuses to let it defeat them, instead choosing to face their fears and continue forward.

That intro Holy Fuck!

I can imagine a massive army marching to attack on the intro until 0:42, after that

Everyone starts cutting and killing the enemies to pieces! until 1:22

And onwards the camera is focus on one Warrior killing dozens of enemy at a time in 25% slow motion until 2:02

Then at 2:03 the Warrior meets the 4 Strong Enemy General/Commander and about to start a 1 v 4 fight to death. The fight continues as the Warrior started to kill the 4 Generals one by one, single handedly.

At 4:10 an almost impossible fight to finish and win.... the Warrior kills the 4th General/commander cutting his head off in front of the General's Men.

As the warrior cut the 4th General's head off, he in slow mo picks up his bloodied sword as he looks at dozens of low ranking enemies in front of him. at 4:50 Their faces in shock they started running away from the warrior afraid from suffering the same faith of their 4 headless Generals wiping the floor in Blood Red.

Song continues....~

Makes me wanna create a medieval battle with this song playing on the background!
