Enslavement of Beauty was formed in January 1995 by Ole Alexander Myrholt (vocals & lyrics) and Tony Eugene Tunheim (guitars & composing). The band spent the subsequent years composing and recording material and thereby developed their expression.
In the summer of 1998, Enslavement of Beauty recorded the demo CD "Devilry & Temptation" which gained them a deal with Head Not Found / Voices of Wonder.
This resulted in the 1999 release "Traces o' Red" which received very positive response. In November 2000, the beauticians headed back to the studio to record their second album, "Megalomania", accompanied by drummer Asgeir Mickelson (Borknagar/Spiral Architect) and bass player Hans-Aage Holmen.
Musically the band still sounds very melodic and deeply inspired by classical music but with a sharper metal edge and a truly hell-bent rock 'n' roll attitude. Lyrically Enslavement of Beauty is more direct approach but still highly influenced by the poetic beauty of Shakespeare and De Sade's works.
Exit There; and Disappear
Enslavement of Beauty Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
The sun gracing the mountain-tops with its light
Kissing with tender lips the meadows green
Gilding pale streams of alchemy with heavenly blight
Even as my sun one early morn did shine
With all its triumphant splendour
Alack, its grace was but one hour mine;
An ugly visage shone through its cruel agenda
It seemed to close all doors
The distance would not haunt me so
As the presence of the tales I had merely known before
But just to hear the grace depart
Pain I never thought I'd see
Afflicts me with a double loss
The fucking track is lost, and lost to me
The lyrics of Enslavement of Beauty's song Exit There; and Disappear are indicative of the beauty of life and the transient nature of everything we cherish. The artist sets a picturesque scene of the sun shining on the mountain tops, casting its golden rays on the meadows below, and illuminating the streams with a divine aura. However, the lyricist quickly reminds us that even nature's gifts are fleeting. The sun that once shone brightly, and brought so much joy and beauty, now reveals an ugly visage, highlighting a darker reality.
The chorus of the song, "When heaven suddenly came this near, It seemed to close all doors," suggest that the beauty of the world is often so awe-inspiring that it seems to encapsulate and shut out everything else, making it difficult to see the harsh realities of life. The poet reflects on the concept of loss, of something once beautiful, now being lost to time. The pain of seeing such beauty depart, that one never thought they'd lose, afflicts the poet with a double loss which is the loss of the beautiful scenery and the loss of a personal identity.
Overall, this song reflects on the fleeting nature of beauty and how it makes us appreciate the world around us but also brings moments of loss that we must overcome to continue living.

It's not the speech really, but the number of phrases from "The City of The Dead" (1960) movie. The first part can be heard here: https://youtu.be/7BChuMtWjYY?t=629
