McCarley currently calls Nashville home, but she cut her musical teeth in San Diego, where she’d moved after college to pursue a life that did not feature music at its center. It was during this bout that McCarley met producer/writer/keyboardist Jamie Kenney (the rare partner she felt 100 percent comfortable with), and the two began honing the songs that would make up Love, Save the Empty.
During 2008, she was part of the "Hotel Café Tour" playing across the United States, and also performed at the 2008 SxSW festival. She was also part of the "Ten Out of Tenn" tour in Winter 2008/2009. Erin spent 2009 on the road with various musicians including Brett Dennen, James Morrison, Paolo Nutini and Mat Kearney.
In 2008, McCarley traveled the annual SXSW Music Festival where she was discovered by her label Universal Republic Records. Love, Save the Empty, was released digitally on December 30, 2008 via iTunes debuting #86 on the Billboard Top 200 Album.Chart. A physical album followed on January 6, 2009. The first single from the album, "Pony (It's OK)" was the iTunes Single of the Week for the first week of 2009.
Re-Arrange Again

Does it feel like it gonna hurt the same?
You gotta live til you die
Lost
In the silence of a long delay
You laugh til you cry
The spaces over our lives
They remind us to forget the pain
All the shadows
All the shields
All the voices
They stir the field
We gotta lift our eyes to the dawn
Through the forest of forgotten tears
Let it all out
Let your guard down
Let it fall down
And rearrange again
And rearrange again
Words
They don't ever seem to feel the same
When you hear them all the time
How
Do you ever let go of the shame?
When you felt someone behind
Flowers hang
The faces over our lies
They remind us to forget the pain
All the shadows
All the shields
All the voices
They stir the field
We gotta lift our eyes to the dawn
Through the forest of forgotten tears
Let it all out
Let your guard down
Let it fall down
Let it all out
Let your guard down
Let it fall down
And rearrange again
And rearrange again
Oh oh oh oh oh
Ou ou
It's time to say goodbye
And start over
It's time to say goodbye
And start over
It's time to say goodbye
And start over
It's time to say goodbye
And start over
Ou ou-ou
Ou ou-ou
Ou ou-ou
Ou ou-ou ou ou
It's time to say goodbye
And start over
In Erin McCarley's song "Re-Arrange Again," she sings about the pain that comes with life and how we must learn to let go of shame and rearrange our lives. The first stanza discusses the fact that life hurts, but we must continue to live until we die. The second stanza discusses how words lose their meaning when we hear them too often, and the shame that comes with feeling someone behind us all the time. The chorus encourages us to let our guard down, let it all out, and rearrange our lives again.
The line "flowers fade, spaces over our lives, they remind us to forget the pain" speaks to the fact that time passes and things change. The memories of the pain we experienced will eventually fade away, and we must move on. The lines "all the shadows, all the shields, all the voices, they stir the field" discuss the emotions we feel when we are going through difficult times. We may feel like we are all alone, but in reality, there are many people going through similar things that can offer support.
The song concludes with the repeated phrase "it's time to say goodbye and start over." This line encourages listeners to let go of their past and start anew. We must be willing to say goodbye to the people and things that are holding us back and begin again with a fresh perspective.
Overall, "Re-Arrange Again" is a song about how life is full of challenges, but we must be willing to let go of our pain, rearrange our lives, and start anew.
