Erk found that finding credible production to accompany his lyrics would not be an easy task, which led him to start teaching himself the art of making beats. After some time, Erk's production talents had become quite formidable, and he produced all of his own work, and other artists began seeking him out to produce their work as well.
Even though his status as a producer was growing, his heart has always been in his raps. In late 2007, he dropped "The Hood Nerd" mixtape, which created some buzz around him as an artist, and got the streets talking. The song "Don't Need Em" became a favorite of DJ's and listeners, and has been getting significant plays on 106.1 KMEL. In order to capitalize off the building buzz, Erk released "The Hood Nerd EP" exclusively on iTunes featuring the hit song "Don't Need Em", which is a precursor to an upcoming album, which is in the making. In June 2008, Erk released "Im So Dumb" which is a witty, comedic song satirizing the "Hyphy Movement", and effectively pronouncing it dead. The song has been receiving praise from all over the region for its blunt honesty, and has been considered a long overdue message by many of the most powerful figures and artists in the local scene.
In 2009, Erk collaborated with Bay Area Legend Too $hort on the single "Plane In The Air". Also in 2009, Erk struck gold by dropping his HIT Single "Right Here" which quickly shot to the number 1 spot on 106KMEL's playlist. "Right Here" became one of the biggest records for the Bay Area from a Bay Area Artist the region has seen in years, further establishing his ability to make hit songs. Recently charting on Billboards top 100 and recognized by MTV as having a "Regional Hit."
His lyrical talents and vibrant personality are evident in the song, and has every one talking about Erk Tha Jerk. You can expect Erk to do what he does best, "Make hit music for real people."

Put your hands up ladies, put your hands up if your single, put your hands up ladies put your hands up. Put your hands up ladies, put your hands up if your single, put your hands up ladies put your hands up
VERSE:
Look, Them heels make your
Jeans look good them
Fat, forevers right now
And you can't look back she don't
Believe she took a chance
Like that but baby is a winner swear she's
So grown miss independent she
Get it on her own yea I could
Tell you wanna be alone
So when you need a strong hit
Me later on yea it's real
I'll be there quicker then
You ever thought fly around
The city top down and my
Leather soft she the flyest
Though she set it off and
Me i'm on my game and i
Ain't never lost she be
On time not a second off
Take everything
Except them stilettos off
CHORUS
Yeah go head girl if you single for the night no man girl
Put your hands up ladies, put your hands up if your single, put your hands up ladies put your hands up. Put your hands up ladies, put your hands up if your single, put your hands up ladies put your hands up
VERSE:
Let me get behind that girl
Do it again rewind that I could be
The drum to your high hat dope boy fresh
Like i'm bringing 89 back money on my
Mind but that ass got
Me side tracked
Lay my game down
Quite flat I could be
Your husband for the night let me wife
That promise if you
Give me your heart I
Give it right back girl
This is destiny and
You can't deny that,
Sweetness what you
Drinking what you
Got poppin the rest of
The evening what you think about
Me and you leaving you and me
Creeping my little
Secret in here working
Sweating out your hair hit the
Balcony for a breath of fresh air

The chorus calls for all the single ladies to put their hands up, suggesting that they should be embracing and enjoying their single status. The first verse seems to be directed at a specific woman, who is described as confident and independent. The lyrics praise her appearance, noting that her heels make her jeans look good and her ass look fat. The woman in question is portrayed as having taken a chance and come out on top, which echoes the song's overall message of living life to the fullest and taking risks. The second verse is more sexually explicit, with the singer suggesting that he could be the woman's "husband for the night" and promising to give her heart back if she gives it to him. The lyrics paint a picture of a fun and crazy night, with the couple potentially sneaking away to enjoy each other's company in secret.
Overall, "Hands Up" seems to be a celebration of the single life, with the song's lyrics urging women to embrace their independence and have some fun. The upbeat tempo and catchy chorus make it a fun and danceable track that could easily become an anthem for single ladies everywhere.
