Broken
Eva Under Fire Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

You're better off than there
Innocence is air
Never knowing what you
Didn't ever mean to
Way before you knew the way back
Home

Broken heart
Broken mind
And still I try
Still I try

You're better off she said
Innocence is dead
Never knowing what you
Didn't ever mean to
Just before you knew the way back
Way back,home
Your way back home

Broken heart
Broken mind
And still I try
Still I try
Fight for love,
Don't ask why
And still I try
Still I try

I come undone
Come undone

Broken heart
Broken mind
And still I try
Still I try
Fight for love
Don't ask why
And still I try

Still I try
Still I try

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Eva Under Fire’s song β€œBroken” depict an individual in distress, struggling to make sense of their shattered heart and mind. The opening lines compare this person unfavorably to someone else who may be better off and still innocent, a character trait the singer believes is akin to the sanctity of air. This is contrasted by the brokenness that they are experiencing – a state that they never meant to achieve. However, the singer is hopeful and believes that they can find their way back home despite not knowing how to navigate the way back.

The repeated refrain of β€œbroken heart, broken mind, and still I try” emphasizes the agony the singer is experiencing, but they are not willing to give up. They continue to fight for love and acknowledge that there may not always be an answer to the question why. The final lines of the song suggest that in spite of it all, the singer may be coming undone.

In summary, β€œBroken” portrays a person who is struggling to come to terms with their emotions after experiencing heartbreak. Their sense of a loss of innocence and the desire to find their way home underline this sense of confusion and the feeling of being lost. Despite feeling broken, the singer holds onto hope and continues to try and fight for love.

I love all the music. Just like it reached in to every situation perfectly. Love it it all!!

God I woke up from a nap to this song with my earbuds in while playing the album. It's rare when a song crafted after 2010 leaves me so verklempt, I feel the raw passionate pain, not only with the minor key, but also just the haunting range in the vocal. The poetic lyric as well was definitely on point with the delivery. The counterpoint in the guitar fused with melodic vocal into scream-sing, then add the snare driving the downbeats hard, the bass and rhythm fusing together the syncopation as a whole... It literally brought me to tears with every goosebump raised. Holy shitballs dude!! I cannot wait to see you guys in stl! Thank you for literally being one of my favorite bands at the moment, and definitely in my top 3 I'd recommend to everyone like a crazy dog lady sharing pictures of her pooch on Facebook faster than live tweets on the latest game of thrones episode. HOT DAYMN!!

Just downloaded your entire album. What can I say other than, thank you for your artistic contribution to music listeners of the world. I am from Detroit and would likeΒ to connect with you guys. I was in the music industry during the late 90's and early 2k. Released one LP and on EP. Band is Defamation of Character and not close to your genre. That said, I would love to see you live and talk about how I may be able to help you guys going forward. I have connections within TKO management as well as other local and national musicians. LOL, that sounds so gay but I am sincere and would like to sync up. Look up DOC and Internal Artist. Internal Artist managed DOC as well as well as multiple other artist. FB me and we can go from there.

@ttfntoday357

That sounds like a plan. What time do you go on? Also, is this Chris?

@christinasawin6225
