Arc
Everything Everything Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Man in grey,
He’s strapped in and he’s upside down,
The wreckage of a limo,
Crying “Oh I’ve really done it now!”,
I’ve really done it now.
The lyrics of Everything Everything's song "Arc" are open to interpretation, but the overarching theme seems to be one of recklessness and the consequences that come with it. The verse starts with a man in grey, who is potentially a figure of authority, being strapped in and upside down in the wreckage of a limousine. The second line is the man crying out "Oh I've really done it now!" This could signify that the man has made a mistake or error in judgement that has caused this crash, and now he is forced to face the consequences of his actions. The repetition of "I've really done it now" reinforces this idea of remorse and regret.
The lyrics could be interpreted as a metaphor for the consequences of our own actions, and the struggle to come to terms with them. The image of the man in grey being upside down and trapped may represent how our own mistakes can leave us feeling helpless and trapped. The wreckage of the limousine could symbolize the destruction caused by our own reckless behavior. The overall message seems to be one of caution, urging us to think carefully about our actions and the potential consequences they may have.
