2. Example consists of rapper: Kay and producer Cipher. They are signed to Beat Farm, where they released the Impulse EP back in 1997. They also released two singles on Vinyl in 2000 titled 'We Write The Songs / That Is...' & 'The Price You Gotta' Pay... (Pt. 2) / Them From "Id Est"'. Unfortunately no debut album came out of the duo.
"Ok, here's the short version. Kay & I became roommates March 1996 & started a group called Example (I.E.). That summer, Example & the K-Otix had a meeting about putting our music out independently. The plan was to put out a double-sided EP, one side Example & the other K-Otix. Well, things didn't go as planned, so both groups decided to do 2 seperate EPs & release them around the same time. Done deal. Kay became writing the very first song on July 26, 1996. We both produced 3 songs each on the EP. January 1997, we released our 6 song EP titled, "Impulses". We only pressed 500 copies." - Cipher

We came, we saw, we killed the crowd
We came, we saw, we killed the crowd
We came, we saw, we killed the crowd
I don't know if you understood
When it rains down, then drop the hoods
End of the nightly, its quite likely
Lose your Rolex, rip your t-shirt,
Bounce up til both your knees hurt
Jump up with your hands apart
You're all goin' home in an ambulance
Where's all the Hooligans?
The nasty music fans
Lets see ya break some bits and
Make this pit a Zoo again
Where's all the Hooligans?
The nasty music fans
Lets see ya break some bits and
Make this pit a Zoo again
We came, we saw, we killed the crowd
We came, we saw, we killed the crowd
We came, we saw, we killed the crowd
We came, we saw, we killed the crowd
A Field full of ravers with their ribs broken
Bounce up til their shins open
Bones poking through,
All beat up but a token few
Was hoping you would come to riot
Bring storms for you to ride it
If you ain't hurt and covered in dirt
You didn't turn up, should'a gone to work
Where's all the Hooligans?
The nasty music fans
Lets see ya break some bits and
Make this pit a Zoo again
Where's all the Hooligans?
The nasty music fans
Lets see ya break some bits and
Make this pit a Zoo again
We came, we saw, we killed the crowd
We came, we saw, we killed the crowd
We came, we saw, we killed the crowd
We came, we saw, we killed the crowd
The song "Hooligans" by Example is an anthem for aggressive, energetic behavior at music events. The lyrics suggest that the purpose of attending such an event is to "kill the crowd" and create a wild, chaotic atmosphere. The repetition of the phrase "We came, we saw, we killed the crowd" reinforces this idea and serves as a call to action for listeners.
The song also encourages the audience to engage in physical activity, such as bouncing and jumping, until they are in pain or even injured. The lyrics suggest that this type of behavior is expected at these events and those who are not participating are seen as missing out on the true experience.
The line "Where's all the Hooligans? The nasty music fans" suggests that the term "hooligan" is a positive label in this context, as it describes those who are willing to fully engage in the rowdiness of the event. The goal is to turn the music pit into a "zoo again," implying that the wild behavior of the audience is what makes the event truly exciting.
Overall, the song celebrates and promotes aggressive behavior and rowdiness at music events, emphasizing that the purpose of attending is to push boundaries and create chaos.
