Unfortunately no debut album came out of the duo.
"Ok, here's the short version. Kay & I became roommates March 1996 & started a group called Example (I.E.). That summer, Example & the K-Otix had a meeting about putting our music out independently. The plan was to put out a double-sided EP, one side Example & the other K-Otix. Well, things didn't go as planned, so both groups decided to do 2 seperate EPs & release them around the same time. Done deal. Kay became writing the very first song on July 26, 1996. We both produced 3 songs each on the EP. January 1997, we released our 6 song EP titled, "Impulses". We only pressed 500 copies." - Cipher

The second fire rises
Oh, how I love my life
But hate these dark surprises
Just when the pain has settled
You face another crisis
Oh, how I love my life
But hate these dark surprises
It's time we face the sun
Breathe & start to run
Putting pressure on my lungs,
Can you feel that pressure?
Never fear, the sunset's near
Bring us here and we're happy 'till next year, yeah
You and me, our mind run free
Bring us near and we're happy 'till next year
All, all we need is, oh, all we need is
All, all we need is, oh, all we need is
All we need is generation
Bring us here and we're happy 'till next year
Just when your name feels special
They come in different guises
Oh, how I love my life
But hate these dark surprises
You feel the angels bless you
Their soft touch energizes
Oh, how I love my life
But hate these dark surprises
It's time we face the sun
No more childish fun,
It's the special kind of love
And you feel so special!
Never fear, the sunset's near
Bring us here and we're happy 'till next year, yeah
You and me, our mind run free
Bring us near and we're happy 'till next year!
All, all we need is, oh, all we need is
All, all we need is, oh, all we need is
All we need is generation
Bring us here and we're happy 'till next year!
If we're having these kickin' for rest for the weekend,
Don't you know ain't got problem with livin'
'Cause I live on the effect
Don't you know?
Never fear, the sunset's near
Bring us here and we're happy 'till next year, yeah
You and me, our mind run free
Bring us near and we're happy 'till next year
All, all we need is, oh, all we need is
All, all we need is, oh, all we need is
All we need is generation
Bring us here and we're happy 'till next year
Happy 'till next year
The lyrics of Example's song "Next Year" describe a feeling of enjoying life while also acknowledging the presence of unexpected difficulties. The repeated lines "just when the flame has settled, the second fire rises" and "just when the pain has settled, you face another crisis" suggest that life is characterized by ups and downs that must be navigated. Even though the singer loves his life, he hates the "dark surprises" that it brings.
However, the chorus offers a moment of hope and optimism. The singer reflects on the passage of time ("we're happy 'till next year") and looks forward to a brighter future. The repetition of "all we need is" suggests that the key to this happiness is connection and community ("generation"), and the repetition of "bring us here" suggests a desire for togetherness and shared experiences.
The bridge breaks from the verse/chorus structure with a spoken-word section that celebrates living in the moment ("if we're having these kickin' for rest for the weekend, don't you know ain't got problem with livin'"). This section suggests that the singer is content with a simple, carefree life, even in the face of challenges.
Overall, "Next Year" is a song about finding joy and purpose in life, even when things don't go as planned.

Одна из лучших песен Экза, слушаю с момента выхода и по сей день. Никогда не надоест, и смысл песни можно сопоставить с событиями в своей жизни.
One of Ex's best songs, I've been listening to it ever since it came out. You never get bored, and the meaning of the song can be compared to the events in your life.
