My Goddess
Exies The Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I was cross eyed under your drug
Schizo savior My messiah
Fatal worship you inspire
Gone, I don't believe in you now
I've seen too much I don't believe in you now
My goddess
You laid your bet I would loose all
Chalk up one less crucifixion
I kick that sick old addiction
Damn, I don't believe in you now
I've seen too much I don't believe in you now
My goddess
Ow you see what ya get when ya loose yourself
What ya get when ya don't know who you are
When you don't know who you are
My goddess
Gone, I don't believe in you now
I've seen too much I don't believe in you now
My goddess
I don't believe in you I don't believe in you
I don't believe in you My goddess
I don't believe in you I don't believe in you
I don't believe in you My goddess
The lyrics to The Exies' song "My Goddess" depict the struggles of being consumed by a toxic relationship. The opening lines convey the idea of being trapped or submerged in a love that is not only unhealthy but also makes it impossible to see clearly. The line "Schizo savior My messiah" is particularly powerful because it highlights the confusion and turmoil that the singer is experiencing within this relationship. The word "Messiah" suggests that the singer is looking for salvation or some kind of escape from this mental prison, but the pairing of "Schizo" with "Savior" suggests that there is no hope of finding redemption within this relationship.
As the song progresses, the singer seems to be coming to terms with the reality of the situation. The line "Gone, I don't believe in you now" marks a turning point in the song, as the singer acknowledges that their faith in their partner has been completely shattered. The chorus repeats the phrase "My goddess", which could be interpreted as sarcasm or bitterness. The idea of a goddess is traditionally associated with beauty, power, and reverence, but in this context, it seems to be a mocking reference to the partner's delusional behavior.
The final lines of the song serve as a cautionary message to anyone who is in danger of losing themselves to a similar situation. The idea that one must know oneself in order to avoid being consumed by others is emphasized with the repetition of the line "When you don't know who you are". Overall, "My Goddess" is a powerful reflection on the devastating effects of toxic relationships and the importance of maintaining a strong sense of self.

Some of the coolest people I have ever met. Around 06' I went to a show where The Exies opened up for Hinder,Buckcherry and Papa Roach headlined. Admittedly it was the first time I had ever heard any of their music and was completely blown away, so much so that I enjoyed their set more that any of the rest. I wrote them a letter to tell them about how incredible the show was and about a week later got a letter back HAND WRITTEN from the band and signed by all members along with some shirts and other merch.
They sold me on not only what kind of musicians they are but also how genuine and appreciative they are for the love and support they get.
