Rose was born and raised in Julian, California, a small gold rush town on the border of the Anza Borrego desert and San Diego county line. She moved to Portland, OR in 2007 where her music started to blossom. Coming from a town with a heavy folk and bluegrass scene, she found herself writing primarily in these veins. Rose played solo for a little over a year when she stumbled across Aubrey Webber (cello, and back up vox), John Vecchiarelli (drums) and William Joersz (upright bass). The four started playing shows, and in doing so, found Ashley King (violin, back up vox) and Kyle Butz (banjo, ukulele, accordion).
With lilting three-part harmonies, some blues, bluegrass, and folk influences, Ezza Rose Band found a niche in the rising indie-pop scene. The group plays in venues ranging from hole-in-the-wall bars to some of Portland’s most coveted stages.
Trigger
Ezza Rose Lyrics

Well my feet were bruised and hollow when I ran into morning today
and my hands were heavy in sorrow for I’d given my Daniel away
gave him away x3
I’ve got my finger on the trigger but somehow your still alive x2
by the lilly pond waters a woman waits for me
she waits for me x3
I’ve got my finger on the trigger but somehow your still alive x2
In Ezza Rose's song Trigger, the singer talks about her struggle with letting go of her past, particularly her memories and emotions regarding a person she used to know, Daniel. She feels like she has a hold on her emotions, indicated by her "finger on the trigger," but somehow Daniel is still alive in her mind and heart. The first verse paints a picture of the singer's state of mind - her feet are bruised and hollow, indicating that she feels tired and worn out. Her hands are heavy with sorrow, suggesting that she has been carrying an emotional burden for a while. She then says that she has given Daniel away, but the repetition of this line suggests that it's not an easy thing for her to do.
The second verse introduces a new element - a shady lane where a woman is waiting for the singer. The memory of this place and person seems to represent a simpler time in the singer's life. She longs for that kind of peace and freedom, but she's unable to fully let go of her past. The repetition of "she waits for me" indicates that the singer feels like something is missing, and she's not sure how to fill that void.
Overall, Trigger is a powerful, emotional song that deals with themes of nostalgia, regret, and the struggle to move on from the past.
