In my silence I would love to forget
Although I may want to forget and move on from past hurts, I am still waiting for the other person to make amends.

But restitution hasn't come quite yet
The other person has not made any efforts to make things right or apologize for their actions.

And with one accord I keep pushing forth
Despite the lack of apology or restitution, I am still pushing forward on my own path towards forgiveness.

I stretch my heart to heal some more
Every day, I work towards healing my own heart and finding forgiveness within myself.

It used to be all I want to learn
In the past, my focus was on acquiring wisdom, trust, and truth.

Was wisdom trust and truth
I strived to be knowledgeable, honest, and trustworthy.

By now all I really want to learn
However, my priorities have shifted over time.

Is forgiveness for you
Now, all I want is to find forgiveness for the person who wronged me.

As my seasons change I've now grown to know
With time, I have learned and grown as a person.

When one's heart creates one's soul doesn't owe
I have come to understand that although my past experiences have shaped me, I do not owe anyone anything based on those experiences.

So I wash away stains of yesterday
I am actively working to let go of the pain and hurt from the past, and move forward with a clean slate.

Then tempt my heart with loves display
I open myself up to the possibility of love, despite the pain I have experienced in the past.
