Forsaken
FGFC820 Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I heard your name the other day
And it cut me like a blade
I guess that time cannot heal every wound
Some memories never fade

I wish that we could just get back in line
And pick up where we left off
But once you lose your grip on time
You blink, and then it's gone

I thought these tears were gone
Now look what you have done
A moment out of time
When you left me behind

I feel like I could drown
Get lost and never found
I'm drifting out to sea
Why have you forsaken me?

I don't recall all the roads I took
Or the streets that I have roamed
But I'd trade them all for just another look
At the faces I once called home

All the years it took to build these walls
Stone by stone and brick by brick

Could not prepare me for the fall
Or the pain that I'd inflict

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of FGFC820's song "Forsaken" are a poignant expression of the deep emotional pain that follows the loss of a loved one. The poet sings about the intensity of the agony felt when the thought of a person who used to be a significant part of their life suddenly resurfaces, tearing open old wounds. They cannot help but recall how much they loved that person and how much they wish they could go back to the moments when they were together, holding hands and cherishing each other's company. Time, they say, is not always enough to heal every wound, especially when the wound is to the heart, and its source has gone away forever. The memories that were created remain etched in the heart, evergreen and never fading, a testament to the deep bond that was shared before they were wrenched apart.

The poet expresses their regret that they will never have the chance to create more memories with the one they have lost. They long for the past, the present does not satisfy them, and the future holds no optimism. They feel like they are drifting out to sea and could easily be lost without ever being found. Everything they knew and loved now feels different, strange, and unfamiliar, a landscape without meaning. The walls that they thought they had built to protect themselves against the world are crumbling; they never saw this coming. In the end, the pain they would inflict upon themselves was something they could never have foreseen, and the thought of never being reunited with the person they loved is unbearable.

+Severe Distortion "We spend our whole life trying to stop death. Eating, inventing, loving,
praying, fighting, killing. But what do we really know about death?
Just that nobody comes back. Then there comes a point - a moment - in
life when your mind outlives its desires, its obsessions, when your
habits survive your dreams, and when your losses... Maybe death is a
gift. You wonder. All I can tell you is that by this time tomorrow I'll
be dead. I know when. I just cannot say why. You have 24 hours to find
out." ~David Gale

@LieRapeSteal

I throw "videos" on here for people to be introduced and experience the music for themselves. However, I agree that a slide-show of sorts would be better. Aesthetics are also a part of the industrial scene. When I get some free time, I will be sure to upload another version as you described. ^^
