Stretch My Arms
Fact Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
To a familiar space spreading in front of me
Then I draw and open my hands
In my hands, a tiny fire is flickering
Can you see it? can you feel it?
I close my eyes
To the shining stars fading away from me
In my life, the burning that begun is holding me
Can you see it? can you feel it?
Even in a dying fire, it's comforting enough for me
The space is spreading out so far in front of me
I try to stretch my arms for a little bit
Light up like a growing fire
My heart is filled with change and darkness
So I come to see something I couldn't see before
I come to feel something I couldn't feel at all
Light up like a growing fire
And my heart is filled with the warmth and the brightness
I come to see something I couldn't see before
I come to feel something I couldn't feel at all
The lyrics of Fact's song "Stretch My Arms" seem to evoke themes of hope, self-discovery, and finding meaning in life. The opening lines describe the act of stretching one's arms to a familiar space, which could represent the desire for comfort and stability. The mention of a tiny fire flickering in the hands could symbolize a glimmer of hope or potential for growth. The repetition of "can you see it? can you feel it?" suggests that these feelings are personal and subjective, yet potentially universal.
The next verse describes the act of closing one's eyes to "shining stars fading away." This could represent a loss of direction or purpose. However, the singer stops and changes direction, indicating an active choice to pursue a different path. The burning sensation mentioned may represent passion or drive. The repetition of "can you see it? can you feel it?" reinforces the importance of personal experience and perception.
The chorus seems to reflect on the transformative power of self-discovery. The imagery of "light up like a growing fire" suggests a sense of warmth and energy. The singer's heart is filled with change and darkness, possibly indicating a willingness to confront difficult emotions or experiences. Ultimately, the singer comes to see and feel things that were previously unattainable.
