Fall in Love
Fade Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Any minute we'll come undone
and the nights you spent trying to see
through my eyes you said I'm the one
Hold me down, oh no
Throw me around, oh no
When our fears replace the fun
and the nights you spent trying to see
through my eyes you said I'm the one
Time flies so say your goodbyes
Realize you shouldn't fall in love
Hold me down, oh no
Throw me around, oh no
Tie me down, oh no
Turn me around, oh no
You shouldn't fall in love
In "Fall in Love" by Fade, the lyrics reflect a toxic and unstable relationship that is spiraling towards its inevitable end. The singer expresses their awareness that the other person is not being truthful and is prone to deception, yet they continue to stay in the relationship. The line "I can picture you lying to me" suggests a lack of trust and a realization that they are being deceived. Despite this, they acknowledge that the other person made them believe they were special, saying "through my eyes you said I'm the one."
The chorus emphasizes the volatile nature of the relationship. The lines "Hold me down, throw me around" and "Tie me down, turn me around" depict a sense of being controlled and manipulated. These lyrics allude to a cycle of emotional abuse where the singer feels trapped and unable to break free. They are aware that the relationship is unhealthy but feel unable to escape.
The repeated refrain "Realize you shouldn't fall in love" serves as a warning to both the singer and the listener. It conveys a lesson learned from the experiences depicted in the song, suggesting that falling in love can lead to pain and disappointment in certain circumstances. Overall, "Fall in Love" is a reflection on the complexities of a dysfunctional relationship and the struggle to let go despite the toxic nature of it.

I can picture you lying to me
I can imagine you deceiving me
Any minute we'll come undone
At any moment, our relationship will fall apart
and the nights you spent trying to see
And the times you dedicated to understanding
through my eyes you said I'm the one
Seeing things from my perspective, you claimed I'm the chosen one
Hold me down, oh no
Keep me restrained, oh no
Throw me around, oh no
Toss me in different directions, oh no
In a minute you won't look at me
Soon you won't even acknowledge me
When our fears replace the fun
As our anxieties overshadow the joy
and the nights you spent trying to see
and the times you dedicated to understanding
through my eyes you said I'm the one
Seeing things from my perspective, you claimed I'm the chosen one
Time flies so say your goodbyes
Time passes quickly, so bid farewell
Realize you shouldn't fall in love
Recognize that falling in love is not wise
Hold me down, oh no
Keep me restrained, oh no
Throw me around, oh no
Toss me in different directions, oh no
Tie me down, oh no
Bind me tightly, oh no
Turn me around, oh no
Rotate me, oh no
You shouldn't fall in love
It's unwise to let yourself fall in love
