Edge of the World
Faith No More Lyrics

Come here, my love
I'll tell you a secret
Come closer, now
I want you to believe it

I'll tell you all the things
You want to hear
Don't worry, baby
There's nothing to fear

Hey, little girl
Would you like some candy

Look into my eyes
I've seen it all
Hand in hand
Together we fall

We'll sing and dance
And we'll find romance
And we'll stroll to the edge of the world

Come sit right down
Lay your head on my shoulder
It's not the point
That I'm forty years older

You can trust me
I'm no criminal
But I'd kill my mother
To be with you, be with you, be with you, be with you

We'll sing and dance
And we'll find romance
And we'll stroll to the edge of the world

Give me a smile
Let me see those pearlies

I'll do anything
For the little girlies

Overall Meaning

"Edge of the World" by Faith No More is a song that tells the story of a predator who preys on innocent victims. The song starts with a plea to a victim to come closer so the predator can confess a secret. The victim is reassured that there is nothing to fear as the predator then proceeds to tell the victim everything that they want to hear. The predator invites the victim to come and dance with them and find romance as they stroll to the edge of the world.

The chorus goes on to tell the victim that they can trust the predator and that they are not a criminal. However, the predator makes a creepy statement that they would kill their mother to be with the victim. The song ends with the predator asking the victim to smile so they can see their teeth and a promise that they'll do anything for the little girlies.

The lyrics of this song are a disturbing commentary on the mindset of some predators who manipulate and lure their victims with words and promises of affection. The song highlights the fact that not all predators appear threatening and that victims should always be cautious and aware of their surroundings.
