In 2004, the band independently recorded and released an EP titled Make a Dent. In October of 2004, the band signed a record deal with Roadrunner Records.[1] Their self titled debut album Faktion was produced by Brett Hestla (Dark New Day) & Justin Thomas, and was recorded at Gridlock Studios in Orlando, Florida. The album was released on March 21, 2006.

The hours pass too slow
Thinking back to the time before when this dream
Was just a vision in my mind
I hate the fact that I have to leave
But I know if I don't I never will
It's time to move on, I have to move on
I know I'm not prepared
For a life that keeps me far from home
But I know if I just sit there, I'll never find out who I am
Staring out the window, a whole new world's outside
I'm waiting by the phone
I need to hear a familiar voice,
Encouragement to get me through this ride
I hate the fact that I had to leave
But I know if I don't I never will
It's time to move on, I have to move on
Repeat Chorus
Everything is different
I'm seeing things that I've never seen before
So different
I know I'm not prepared
For a life that keeps me far from home
I know if I just sit there, I'll never find me
I know I'm not prepared
For a life that keeps me far from home
I know I'm happy here
I finally found out who I am
The song "Who I Am" by Faktion is an anthem for those who are struggling through the fear of stepping out of their comfort zone to follow their dreams. The lyrics paint a picture of someone who is staring out the window, contemplating the world that's passing them by, thinking back to a time when they had a dream that seemed impossible, yet now they have reached a point where they have to leave their home and their familiar life to pursue that dream. The singer is fearful and unsure of what's ahead, but they know that if they don't make this move, they'll never find out who they are. The chorus echoes this sentiment, emphasizing that the singer knows they are not prepared for what's ahead, but they also know that they'll never know who they are if they don't take this bold step.
