Read Full Bio ↴Family And Friends is an American indie-rock band out of Athens, GA.
The band began as a lowly seedling of inspiration. “Good music, good people.” One became six, a collective of musicians by trade, lovers by spirit. Inspired by a life worth living, the Fam and Pals remained rooted with three ambitions in heart, mind, and soul: the people, the music, the memories. The reflection represented by blend of earnest folk rock and a communal spirit pouring a collective heart into something bigger than itself.

In the wake of all that we once were
Curse that crave that can't be cured
Yeah, you start the fire just to watch it burn
You say it's only love
Like it's not everything, like it's not all there ever was
All entangled in your limbs
To steal the salt right from your skin
Sealed my fate upon your lips
But it's not something I would recommend
Put my flesh upon the flame just to feel it all again
Oh I've been calling on your love
Burning like a fire, thirsting for the flood
Poison boiling in my blood
Dancing with desire,
I will take to your heart like a hunter to the hunt
Calm before the storm
Rushing river runs its course
Crashing wave to shore
Always coming back for more
Love, there's no mistaking idle talk for conversation
I've got time to test my patience, I've got you to keep me waiting
Rising fear, crashing like the shoreline breaking
It's becoming clear, there's nothing here left worth saving
You say it's only love,
Like it's not everything, like it's not all there ever was
Oh I've been calling on your love
Burning like the fire, thirsting for the flood
Poison boiling in my blood
Dancing with desire,
I will take to your heart like a hunter to the hunt
The opening lines of the song "Double Vision" by Family and Friends portrays a craving that is beyond control which could be the consequence of an all-consuming love affair. The lyrics "Come now wanting do your worst, In the wake of all that we once were" expresses a sense of desperation and longing with the acknowledgment of the result of the love affair. The second verse of the song accentuates the intoxicating nature of the relationship with the words "All entangled in your limbs, To steal the salt right from your skin" suggesting that the two individuals involved are so connected that they cannot detach themselves.
The lyrics "Put my flesh upon the flame just to feel it all again, Oh I've been calling on your love" highlights the fact that the person is willing to go through pain and suffering to have another taste of that experience. The chorus of the song repeats the phrase "like it's not everything, like it's not all there ever was" twice to emphasize the importance of love to the individual. The last verse talks about the eventual outcome of the relationship with the line "It's becoming clear, there's nothing here left worth saving."
