Baby Mama
Fantasia Lyrics

B-A-B-Y-M-A-M-A
This goes out to all my baby mamas
This goes out to all my baby mamas
B-A-B-Y-M-A-M-A
This goes out to all my baby mamas
I got love for all my baby mamas

It's about time we had our own song
Don't know what took so long
'cause now-a-days it like a badge of honer
To be a baby mama
I see ya payin' ya bills
I see ya workin' ya job
I see ya goin' to school
And girl I know it's hard
And even though ya fed up
With makin' beds up
Girl, keep ya head up
All my

B-A-B-Y-M-A-M-A
This goes out to all my baby mamas
This goes out to all my baby mamas
B-A-B-Y-M-A-M-A
This goes out to all my baby mamas
I got love for all my baby mamas

I see you get that support check in the mail
Ya open it and your like "What the Hell"
You say "This ain't even half of daycare"
Sayin' to yourself "This here ain't fair"
And all my girls who don't get no help
Who gotta do everything by yourself
Remember: What don't kill you can only make you stronger
My baby mama

B-A-B-Y-M-A-M-A
This goes out to all my baby mamas
This goes out to all my baby mamas
B-A-B-Y-M-A-M-A
This goes out to all my baby mamas
I got love for all my baby mamas

'cause we the backbone (of the hood)
I always knew that (that we could)
We can go anywhere, we can do anything
I know we can make it if we dream
And I think it should be a holiday
For single mothers tryin' to make a way
But until then
Here is your song
Show love to my

B-A-B-Y-M-A-M-A
This goes out to all my baby mamas
This goes out to all my baby mamas
B-A-B-Y-M-A-M-A
This goes out to all my baby mamas
I got love for all my baby mamas

To try & make a long story as short as I can. I got married & had my first child (daughter) in 1998 & my second child (son) in 2001. My husband @ that time had multiple affairs & I ended up leaving. I divorced him & it was as if he didn’t have any children. He wouldn’t help at all. No support, no financial support, no mental support, nothing! I moved out of his family’s building & got my own 2 bedroom apt in the suburbs. I worked very hard to take care of my babies. One day I heard this song while driving to work. It seemed like Fantasia was singing to me exclusively. I broke down & cried. I 💕 loved this song so much, I purchased the cd. Every morning after dropping my kids off at school & @ the sitter, I would play this song & it was like “therapy.”
I didn’t understand how “baby mamas” actually became who they are. You never know what a woman has gone through that might have put her in position to raise kids on her own. It was truly a struggle. Well, I went back to school. Wanted to do better for myself & for my children. I met my new husband, got married in 2012 & he has raised them like his own. My daughter is now 21. She’s now a senior in one of the top universities in the nation, a certified EMT & in “Pre Med. She’s on her road to being a heart surgeon!!
My son is now 18. He attends a private university majoring in “Criminal Justice.”

We as mothers (baby mamas) are the strongest force that brings unity & success to our offspring.
Just because we might be doing it on our own, doesn’t mean it can’t be done ✅
My ex-husband always thank me now for being such a strong woman & raising our children to be successful in spite of his absence.

So, however you became that baby mama...
Keep ya heads up & be the BEST mother you can be & don’t give up! GOD is good & HE makes what was once ugly into something so beautiful.

I was in Family Dollar about two years ago & I had (I wanna say) $4 & some change & I was debating on what I should buy my daughter for lunch. I'm not sure what day of the week it was (it was so long ago) but I know I wasn't getting paid until that Friday & she needed something for the next few days & my gas light was on. this song came on & somewhere before it ended I started crying. I'm 25 now so this came out when I was kid & of course I couldn't relate to it then... but that day I felt like it was my first time really hearing the song & its message. anyway, I sucked it up & ended up buying some chicken noodle soup cans & some fruit cups... I prayed in the car on my way home & later that day I found a folded $20 bill in a jacket pocket. I couldn't help but to laugh & cry a Lil more.... I love this song so much now & I can't help but to appreciate that lil moment I had with it. shit gets hard in this life but we Grow as we go. just when I thought I was going to break I was given a reminder that things get better as you push through it. my baby is 6 now & we aren't rich but she's never hungry! Lol & I'm gonna keep on pushing. sending love & well wishes to whoever ends up reading this! We gone be alright ❤️

After you become a baby mama you should be left to be left alone from all other men until your child is grown and moves out https://youtu.be/hK5OqaDYnYg
