Hold on hold on hold on hold on
This a fucking novocain
Throw me till I'm in the coma
So never feel the pain
It ain't over till it's over
I stay numb like novocaine
Throw me till I'm in the coma
So I never feel the pain
It ain't over till it's over
I stay numb like novocaine
I stay numb like novocaine
I stay numb like novocaine
I stay numb like novocaine
Caving inside countless times I try
To hold on to life
Hold on hold on hold on hold on
Hold on hold on hold on
This a fucking novocain
Throw me till I'm in the coma
So I never feel the pain
It ain't over till it's over
I stay numb like novocaine
This a fucking novocain
Throw me till I'm in the coma
So I never feel the pain
It ain't over till it's over
I stay numb like novocaine
I stay numb like novocaine
I stay numb like novocaine
Hold on hold on hold on hold on
Hold on hold on hold on
This a fucking novocain
I stay numb like novocaine
I stay numb like novocaine
In the song "Novacain" by Far East Movement, the repetitive lines "Hold on hold on hold on hold on" and "I stay numb like novocaine" reflect a sense of desperation and the desire to escape from pain or difficult emotions. The use of the word "novocain" alludes to the numbing effects of the anesthetic, implying a need to block out or suppress feelings.
The first verse sets the tone for the song, expressing the idea of using novocain to throw oneself into a coma and avoid feeling pain. It suggests a willingness to go to extreme measures to escape whatever is causing distress. The line "It ain't over till it's over" speaks to a sense of determination to keep fighting and enduring, despite the numbing and avoidance tactics employed.
The repetition of the phrase "I stay numb like novocaine" in the chorus serves as a mantra or affirmation of the singer's emotional state. By comparing themselves to novocaine, they are emphasizing their ability to detach from their emotions and remain unaffected by pain. This repetition also reinforces the theme of wanting to remain numb rather than confronting and processing their feelings.
The line "Caving inside countless times I try to hold on to life" in the second verse further emphasizes the internal struggle and the constant battle to maintain composure. It suggests that the singer has faced multiple challenges and has been on the brink of giving up, but keeps holding on with the help of the numbing effects of novocain.
Overall, the lyrics to "Novacain" illustrate a complex emotional state of desperation, resilience, and a desire to escape from pain. The use of novocain as a metaphor for emotional numbness and avoidance adds depth to the song's exploration of the struggle to confront and process difficult emotions.
