Farid begann mit 19 Jahren gemeinsam mit „Tekken“ zu rappen. Als er Eko Fresh kennen lernte, unterschrieb er einen Vertrag bei dessen Label German Dream Entertainment.[3] Drei Lieder mit ihm erschienen 2005 auf Eko Freshs Mixtape Fick immer noch deine Story, Ekos Abrechnung mit Kool Savas. Zu dieser Zeit benutzte Farid Bang noch das Pseudonym Farid Urlaub (in Anlehnung an Farin Urlaub). Für 2006 war ursprünglich ein Album namens Ghetto Kodex vorgesehen, das jedoch nicht realisierbar war.
Am 4. Juli 2008 erschien Farid Bangs Debütalbum Asphalt Massaka über German Dream Entertainment. Das Album war nicht sehr erfolgreich, aber Farid machte anschließend als Battle-Rapper auf sich aufmerksam. 2009 beteiligte er sich an den beiden Disstracks Westdeutschland Kings (auf der Kompilation Chronik 2) und Fanpost, die sich gegen Aggro Berlin, Fler und Kitty Kat richteten. Anschließend startete der Rapper MOK einen sogenannten Beef mit ihm. MOK hatte ein Lied von Farid Bang auf seinem Mixtape Bad Boys 2 veröffentlicht und fühlte sich persönlich angegriffen, als er von dem ersten Disstrack hörte. Farid wies die Anschuldigungen in einem Interview mit dem Hip-Hop-Magazin Juice jedoch zurück.
Gemeinsam mit Kollegah veröffentlichte er am 19. Juni 2009 das Album Jung, brutal, gutaussehend über Selfmade Records.
