Slow drag and I'm lying in my bed
All the world is sleeping like a baby tonight
I wanna lay you down in the ground alright
Slow drag and I can't get up now
Slow drag, you've been messing with my mind
And all the world is sleeping like a baby tonight
You're nothing to me
You're nothing to me
You're nothing to me no more
You're nothing to me
Nothing to me
Nothing to me no more
And all the world is sleeping like a baby tonight
I wanna see you dead in the muddy ground
You're nothing to me
You're nothing to me
You're nothing to me no more
You're nothing to me
Nothing to me
Nothing to me no more
Ain't nothing to me
You're nothing to me
Nothing to me no more
No more, oh
No more, no
The song "Slow Drag" by Fastball is a haunting and slow-paced track that explores the darker side of love and desire. The singer of the song is lying in bed, smoking a cigarette, and thinking about a person who has been "messing with" their mind. All around them, the world is sleeping peacefully, but the singer is consumed with thoughts of this person. They express a desire to see this person "dead in the muddy ground," suggesting a violent and disturbing end to their relationship.
The repeated refrain of "You're nothing to me" underscores the sense of disillusionment and detachment that the singer feels towards their former lover. Despite the intense emotions that the song deals with, the slow pace of the music creates a sense of dreamlike detachment from reality. The lyrics paint a picture of someone who is struggling to come to terms with the end of a relationship, grappling with feelings of anger, betrayal, and longing.
Overall, "Slow Drag" is a masterful piece of songwriting that conveys a complex and emotional message in a deceptively simple way. It is a testament to the power of music to explore the darkest corners of the human heart.
