Formed in New York City in 1970, the Fatback Band was the concept of Bill Curtis, an experienced session drummer, inspired to merge the "fatback" jazz beat of New Orleans into a funk band. In addition to Curtis, the band's initial line-up included guitarist Johnny King, bassist Johnny Flippin, trumpet player George Williams, saxophonist Earl Shelton, flautist George Adams, and keyboardist Gerry Thomas. The band specialized in playing "street funk". The group also later included conga player Wayne Woolford, vocalists Jayne and Gerry, Deborah Cooper saxophonist Fred Demerey, guitarist Louis Wright and George Victory.

When you
Said that you would love me
Now I am wondering...
(Oh baby Baby)
...If you're thinking of me
Cause I have waited
I can't wait much longer
(Ohhhh)
Do it to me now
Make sweet love to me
Do it now
Do it to me now
Make sweet love to me
Do it now
Turn down the lights
Please baby
Let's drink a toast
To you
And me
I only want to hold you close
Oohoooh
And explore those boundaries
Ooh oooh
You'll be so happy.
Happy baby
That you came to me
Do it to me now
Make sweet love to me
Do it now
Wanna do it
Do it
Do it to me now
(Oh my babe oh oh ooh!)
Make sweet love to me
Do it now
(Ohhh my baby!)
Do it to me now
Make sweet love to me
(Love me this way
Love me that way
My baby!)
Do it to me now
(Oh oooohhhhh)
Make sweet love to me
Do it now
Do it to me now
Make sweet love to me
Love me all over
Do it to me now
Make sweet love to me
Do you wanna love me
Like
I wanna love you?
(Looooooove!
Waaahhhhhoooohhh!)
Oh my baby
See an Angel of mercy

The Fatback Band's song "Do It to Me Now" is a soulful ode to physical intimacy and longing for a past love. The lyrics express the singer's desire for their partner to fulfill their physical needs in the present moment after long anticipation. The song starts with a reminiscence of past love where the partner had promised to love. The singer seems to question if the partner still thinks of them in the same way, leading to their profound craving for intimacy with their partner. The line "Do it to me now" emphasizes the sense of urgency and desire for the partner's affection at that moment.
The refrain "Make sweet love to me" is repeated throughout the song in a languid, sensual way. It's possible that this repetition evokes the actual act of lovemaking itself by building a hypnotic rhythm that mirrors the buildup of passion. The lyrics "Turn down the lights, please baby, let's drink a toast to you and me" creates a romantic ambiance in preparation for the pleasure. The lyrics create a vivid and steamy picture of lovemaking and how the singer wants to explore new boundaries physically and emotionally. The song ends in a crescendo with the singer pleading with their lover to show them the same level of affection they have for them.
