These lyrics are from the Greek Orthodox hymn "Iris" ("The Rainbow") dedicated to Saint Iris, a Christian martyr of the 3rd century. The hymn praises Saint Iris and describes her as a divine rainbow, symbolizing the spiritual flood that brings enlightenment and reconciliation with God. The golden-plaited whip mentioned in the lyrics represents the powerful instrument through which the demons are chastised, and it allows believers to escape from the endless cycle of suffering and seek communion with the divine.
The second paragraph of the lyrics expresses joy and reverence towards Saint Iris as a heavenly spectacle, emphasizing her connection to the Monastery (possibly the Monastery of Saint Iris), representing her fame or reputation. Additionally, the lyrics describe Saint Iris as the strength, assistance, shelter, and protection for believers, serving as a fortress against the challenges and temptations of life.
In summary, the lyrics of "Iris" celebrate and honor Saint Iris as a mediator between humans and God, highlighting her significance in bringing spiritual transformation and providing support and salvation to believers in their pursuit of divine communion.

Using the word "problematic" marks you as a member of the present-day thought police, unfortunately. You sound like one of those people who go around looking for reasons to be offended if every single phrase in every single sentence that any given person speaks or writes doesn't contain the full message you want it to contain, instead of looking at the totality of what the person says.
What the man actually did was to first acknowledge that his daughter is beautiful. I'm the father of five daughters myself, and every one a knockout. I'm not crazy about that sometimes, but it's not like I'm not aware of it. And you know it's only natural for guys to look at attractive women. That's what this person is acknowledging. What he objects to, and what I object to, is people with no restraint and no decency.
This is what he says, after the initial acknowledgement::
"These all men, they have to respect a young girl walking on the street, not to come so strong [unintelligible].... The way he talk, the way there's no shame, coming on like this on the street, without even knowing the young lady. Our daughters, and wife, and mother, are to be treated with respect.... I think there would be a fistfight [if somebody did this in front of him]."
Yeah, sounds "problematic," alright. Just a horrible guy. /:
I'm glad you find catcalling as vulgar and intrusive as any decent person would, and also glad you're out here pushing back against it. But people like you have got to stop trying to find new enemies and people to feel superior to, all day every day. You don't have to be that way to do the right thing and say the right thing.

I don’t think guys understand how terrifying this is for girls. That feeling of your heart pounding erratically in your chest because you start thinking of the worst (especially when it’s a group of guys), it’s deeply unnerving. It’s happened to me once and I pray it never happens again. Guys please respect women as they are human beings too

I do understand quite well, because in areas like that I might end up getting stabbed to death.

I think most of the women in this world have experienced that and I don't wanna be part of the men that seems like they doesn't have ever seen a girl before
Not just be a man, be a gentle man, don't harasse women

She's not only someone's daughter, someone's sister, someone's wife, someone's mother. She's also a person and that should be the reason enough to treat her with respect.
She_wizzdom
First and foremost she is a person and that is the ONLY reason you need for respecting her

👏👏👏 When people say 'imagine if that was your mother'. Like I understand that that might be a useful argument for the kinds of idiots that cat call but it's so sad that these people can't just respect a woman as a person. That she needs to be tied or linked to someone else in order for them to respect her.

deadass like she is a living thing so treat her with respect it’s literally not hard
