Over
Fayray Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

All I do is cry but I did my best I did oh try
Yume nokoshita mama doko e yuku no?
And you say "Maketa n da jibun ni"
And I'll say "Saigo demo ii, tsuyoku tsuyoku daite"

Just come back to me now
Futari dake no ano himitsu mo
Ashiato mo shigusa mo
Slip away
Nani ga yami de nani ga tsumi ka
Wakaranai hi mo
Warattetai no shinjitai no
Still believe you and me, but it's over

I'm in & out I'm up & down I'm sad & blue
Tameiki tsurete doko e yuku no?
And you say "Kimi wa tsuyoi kara ne"
But I'll say "Nagusamete ii, itoshiku kuchizuke"

Just come back to me now
Futari dake ga yurushiatta
Kuchiguse mo shigusa mo
Slip away
Dare ga kataki de nani ga suki ka
Wakaranai hi mo
Waraiatte ai shitakatta
Still believe you and me, but it's over

I wanted to spend my life with you
I wish you were here
But you're never here
And I miss you so bad

Just come back to me now
Futari dake no ano himitsu mo
Ashiato mo shigusa mo
Slip away
Nani ga yami de nani ga tsumi ka
Wakaranai hi mo
Warattetai no shinjitai no
Because I do still believe
Nee kikoeru no? Tsutawaru no?
Kono sakebi ga, kanashimi ga, namida ga

Still believe you and me, but it's over
Still believe you and me, but it's over

Overall Meaning

The song "Over" by Fayray is a heart-wrenching ballad about the pain of losing someone you love. The lyrics are a mix of introspection, longing, and regret. The opening lines "All I do is cry but I did my best I did oh try" communicate a sense of despair and defeat, as the singer laments her failed attempt to hold onto her relationship. She wonders where her dreams will take her now that she has been left alone. Her partner tries to console her by saying that she is strong, but she simply wishes for his warmth and affection.

The chorus "Just come back to me now" is a plea for reconciliation, for them to be able to share their secrets and inside jokes again. The line "Nani ga yami de nani ga tsumi ka" implies that things have been left unresolved, and there are moments when the singer doesn't understand what went wrong. However, she still clings onto the hope that they can someday laugh together and love each other again.

The verse "I'm in & out I'm up & down I'm sad & blue" shows how the singer's emotions are unpredictable and how she is barely keeping it together. She wishes she could find solace somewhere but is left wondering whether her partner feels as powerless as she does. Yet, she still hopes for his gentle touch and a reassurance that he still loves her.

Overall, "Over" is a haunting yet beautiful song with honest lyrics that can resonate with anybody who has ever had a broken heart.
