Zero
Fazerdaze Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I never wanted you out
I never wanted you out
Until you wanted me out
I never wanted you out

I never wanted you out
Well you wanted me out
You wanted to hurt, hurt
I never wanted to

Overall Meaning

For many listeners, the lyrics of Fazerdaze's "Zero" speak to the emotional turbulence of a break-up. Taken at face value, the repetition of "I never wanted you out" in the chorus seems to suggest that the singer is fighting against a feeling of rejection. By changing the verb tense in the second line ("Until you wanted me out"), the lyrics imply that the singer was content with the relationship until the other person ended it. There is a sense of confusion and frustration in the repetition of these lines, as though the singer is trying to make sense of why the break-up happened.

However, the final lines of the song ("Well you wanted me out / You wanted to hurt, hurt / I never wanted to") complicate this interpretation. Here, the mood shifts from introspective to accusatory, as the singer suggests that the other person ended the relationship out of a desire to cause pain. The separation was not mutual or based on a fundamental incompatibility, but rather an act of spite. These lines also imply a sense of resignation on the part of the singer; they may have initially been hurt by the other person's actions, but now they are simply stating the truth of what occurred.

Overall, "Zero" is a song that captures the feeling of being blindsided by the end of a relationship. The lyrics express a mix of emotions, from confusion and sadness to anger and resignation, and suggest that the singer is struggling to reconcile their own desires with the reality of what has happened.

People really need to appreciate indie singers more. They always bring something new to the table.

People do. It became so popular that we used to call it Alternative pop in the 90s. The Fazerdaze sound is called shoegaze which became popular in the late 80s and the early 90s.

I need a version of this one and Little Uneasy, back to back and with a little more intensity, it would be glorious. 🤟🤤
