His best-known solo material is the 1985 UK chart-topping single penned by Maria McKee, "A Good Heart", which went to number one in several countries. His solo work is significantly different from the semi-punk offerings of The Undertones. He also got a UK number 5 in 1986 with "You Little Thief".
Starting in 1992 Sharkey moved into the business side of the music industry, initially as an A&R manager for Polydor Records and then as Managing Director of EXP Ltd. He was appointed a Member of the Radio Authority for five years from December 1998 to December 2003. He then became Chairman of the UK Government task force the 'Live Music Forum' in 2004.
Cold Cold Streets

I say a prayer I find the strength to stay
Just strong enough to clear my mind
Just long enough to keep you mine
For I need another day to find another way to hold on
Just another day to find another way to hold on
For I might never find my way through the cold cold streets
I might never find the strength to try to make it sweet
Take me to your heart girl
Now you told me our love was real
And you'd take a chance on what you feel
But you don't believe what your own eyes see
But I would look if it was up to me
For I need another day to find another way to hold on
Just another day to find another way to hold on
For I might never find my way through the cold cold streets
that lead me to your heart girl
I might never find the strength to try to make it sweet
Take me to your heart girl
Hold on
Hold on to the one you need don't let her slip away
Hold on
Hold on to the one you love and tell her every day
Now at last my lesson's learned
And I've heard your cries until my eyes have burned
So thank you girl I'll always be
Yours in love eternally
For I need another day to find another way to hold on
Just another day to find another way to hold on
For I might never find my way through the cold cold streets
that lead me to your heart girl
I might never find the strength to try to make it sweet
Take me to your heart girl
Hold on
Take me to your heart girl...
The song "Cold Cold Streets" by Feargal Sharkey explores themes of love, loss, and perseverance. The opening lyrics describe the struggle of leaving a loved one behind and praying for strength to stay. The singer acknowledges that he needs "another day to find another way to hold on" and keep his loved one close. However, the chorus reveals that the journey to the loved one's heart may prove too difficult, as the "cold cold streets" threaten to lead him astray. He may never find the inner strength needed to make the relationship work, and the prospect of losing his loved one is devastating.
In the second verse, the singer is reminded of the reality of his relationship - though his loved one has promised their love is real, they don't truly believe it themselves. This realization is difficult to accept, and he would be willing to look for a way to convince them if he could. The chorus repeats, emphasizing the struggle to reach the loved one's heart, and urging the listener to hold on tightly to the person they love.
The final verse represents a turning point, as the singer claims to have learned a lesson and heard their loved one's cries. They express gratitude for their loved one and vow to always be theirs in love eternally. The chorus repeats once more, weaving together the themes of difficulty, perseverance, and ultimately, the importance of holding on to those we love.

Whenever I have to leave you

Just enough time to keep you close to me
For I need another day to find another way to hold on
I need more time to come up with a plan to keep us together
For I might never find my way through the cold cold streets that lead me to your heart girl
I may never find the path to your heart, which seems cold and distant
I might never find the strength to try to make it sweet
I may not have the strength to make our relationship wonderful
Take me to your heart girl
Let me be close to your heart
Now you told me our love was real
You said our love was true
And you'd take a chance on what you feel
You were willing to risk it all for love
But you don't believe what your own eyes see
But you're not sure if it's really working out
But I would look if it was up to me
I would try to see if we can fix it if given the chance
Hold on to the one you need don't let her slip away
Hold on to the one you love and keep them close to your heart
Now at last my lesson's learned
Finally, I have learned my lesson
And I've heard your cries until my eyes have burned
I have listened to your cries until it hurt my eyes
So thank you girl I'll always be
Thank you for everything, I will always be by your side
Yours in love eternally
Forever yours with unconditional love
Take me to your heart girl

The Bee Gees I'm just like you. When I can't find on the tube, so I decided to upload myself. Thank god the tube didn't delete this song. Love this song very much (and the whole album). Listen this album first time when I was teenager and in cassette tape format. Many people love his first album. But I love this second album very much.
