Feed Me Jack Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
i feel it coming, i'm pushing it down
another window, another way out
another window
i don't have the will or time to think of something to say to you
i see it in your almond eyes, a sure sign of nothing new
and if you want to move down to a more hospitable latitude
another window, another way out
i feel it coming, i'm pushing it down
another window, another way out
another window
i've been around long enough, now don't you deceive me
you will never know unless you cut me open
and god knows, for every stitch that i have been sewing
you won't hesitate to cut me open
cut me
cut me open
The lyrics to Feed Me Jack's song Open are a poignant commentary on the struggle to communicate effectively in a relationship that is on the verge of collapsing. The repetition of the phrase "another window, another way out" suggests a sense of desperation and a desire to escape the situation at hand. The singer is clearly feeling overwhelmed by the emotional turmoil of the relationship and is struggling to find the words to express themselves.
In contrast to this, the chorus of the song is more aggressive in tone, with the singer seemingly pushing down their emotions and feeling the need to be cut open in order to truly understand what they are going through. There is a sense of frustration and anger here, as the singer feels that their partner has not truly understood their emotions despite their efforts to communicate.

Funke got me into these guys years ago when he used Definitely You as an outro. I'm so glad he talked about Feed Me Jack again.

Not sure if anyone else realized, but Open, (Da Da Da Da), and Berring Stone, in that order are connected, hence why they are in that arrangement in the album. In (Da Da Da Da) not only does it sound like Open, but you can here the chorus lyric from Open towards the end. At the very end, you can quietly hear what sound like the beginning drum cymbals of Berring Stone.
Really cool tbh.

Yeah Feed Me Jack are really good and blending songs in their albums. Tonally speaking all of their albums tell a story despite the shortness of their albums. Together Anatolia is only about 45 mins.

This is why making albums is a dying art. Done everyone will just release singles as they make them. It makes me really sad.
