In Femi Kuti's song "I Wanna Be Free," he expresses his desire to be free from the corrupt and oppressive political systems in his country. He repeats the phrase "I wanna be free from all this yege politics" and "I wanna be free from all this coropt monster" throughout the song, emphasizing the urgency of his desire for change. Femi Kuti also mentions the African leaders who are only interested in their own self-interests and controlling the resources of their respective countries.
In the song, Femi Kuti questions why the light of day doesn't let him try and why there is no plan for him and others like him. He expresses a feeling of hopelessness and the belief that they will never be free from the corrupt systems that are in place.
The song's lyrics show a deep frustration with the lack of progress in tackling corruption, and the inability of the people to have a say in how their country is run. It reflects the disillusionment felt by many Africans who are tired of being taken advantage of by corrupt politicians and leaders.
