Femi was born in London on 16 June 1962 and grew up in the former Nigerian capital Lagos.
Like his father, Femi has shown a strong commitment to social and political causes throughout his career, but he differs in his religious views.
In 2001, Femi collaborated with a number of US musicians such as Common, Mos Def, and Jaguar Wright, on his Fight to Win album. This album was widely regarded as the most influential Neo-Afrobeat album of the early 21st century.

You will agree that poverty is wining the game
More people are suffering
More people are very poor
The suffering people cant take anymore, anymore anymore anymore
When you see what is going on in the world today
You will agree that poverty is wining the game
More people are suffering
The suffering people cant take anymore
The world is changing, everyone dey feel the pain
The world is changing, poverty dey win the game
The world is changing, everyone can feel the pain
The world is changing, poverty dey gain dey win the game
Now the rich dey cry
But the poor still die from poverty no be lie
Remember Haiti no one can deny
Somalia no one can deny
The world is changing, everyone dey feel the pain
The world is changing, poverty dey win the game
The world is changing, everyone can feel the pain
The world is changing, poverty dey gain dey win the game
Tsunami here tsunami there
Theres is flooding everywhere
The Philippines, chile, China, Pakistan, Japan
The flooding people cant take anymore
The world is changing, everyone dey feel the pain
The world is changing, poverty dey win the game
The world is changing, everyone can feel the pain
The world is changing, poverty dey gain dey win the game
When you see what is going on in the world today
You will agree that poverty is wining the game
More people are suffering
More people are very poor
The suffering people cant take anymore, anymore anymore anymore
The song "The World is Changing" by Femi Kuti laments the devastating effects of poverty on individuals and societies around the world. The lyrics of the song highlight the fact that poverty is winning the game, and more people are suffering, with the poor being the worst affected. The song is a call to action for all people to take compassionate action and respond to the plight of the suffering people who cannot take anymore.
The first stanza of the song emphasizes the enormity of the poverty problem in the world, as seen in the current situation, with the majority of people living in abject poverty. The lyrics portray a world where there is a growing gap between the rich and the poor, with the latter suffering the most. The central message of the song is emphasized in the refrain of the song, which states that “the world is changing,” and everyone can feel the pain. Poverty has now become a worldwide phenomenon, with no one being immune to its effects.
The second stanza of the song highlights the fact that even the rich are feeling the effects of poverty as the poor continue to die from the effects of poverty. The artist mentions Haiti and Somalia as examples of countries that are devastated by the effects of poverty. The song points out that poverty knows no boundaries and can strike anyone, anywhere in the world. From tsunamis to flooding, poverty continues to cause pain and devastation worldwide.

Magnificent title and video. Femi, elder son of Fela, is my favourite from this family of afrobeat musicians. He is really concerned, mobilised, as a singer of texts, the grave beauty on his face is able to be read.
