Pass Me Not
Fernando Ortega Lyrics

Hear my humble cry
While on others Thou art calling
Do not pass me by
Savior, Savior
Hear my humble cry
While on others Thou art calling
Let me at Thy throne of mercy
Find a sweet relief
Kneeling there in deep contrition
Help my unbelief
Trusting only in Thy merit
Would I seek Thy face
Heal my wounded, broken spirit
Save me by Thy grace
Thou the Spring of all my comfort
More than life to me
Whom have I on earth beside Thee?
Whom in heav'n but Thee?
The lyrics to Fernando Ortega's song Pass Me Not are a plea to Jesus Christ to extend his grace and mercy to the singer. The singer acknowledges their own unworthiness and the potential for Jesus to call upon others for salvation, but asks Jesus not to pass them by. The singer continues to plead with Jesus and express their vulnerability, seeking relief and forgiveness for their shortcomings. They acknowledge their trust in Jesus and seek healing for their spirit. The song concludes with the singer declaring that Jesus is the sole source of comfort in their life.
The lyrics of this song are a powerful expression of the Christian faith and a call to humility and vulnerability in the face of grace. The use of repetition in the chorus emphasizes the importance of the singer's request and the urgency of their plea. The specificity of the singer's requests, such as "heal my wounded, broken spirit," make the song relatable to anyone who has experienced struggles or doubt in their faith.
