Silencio
Ferrer Ibrahim Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Silencio
(Silencio)
Que están durmiendo
(Que están durmiendo)
Los nardos
(Los nardos)
Y las azucenas
No quiero que sepan mis penas
Porque si me ven llorando morirán
Porque si me ven llorando morirán
The lyrics of “Silencio” by Ferrer Ibrahim express the desire to hide one’s deep pain and sorrow from the world, even from the flowers in one’s garden. The singer laments that their soul is weighed down by sadness, and they seek solace by confiding in the blooming lilies and roses. However, the singer is hesitant to share their anguish with anyone, including the flowers, for fear that it would cause them to also feel sadness and grief. The title of the song, “Silencio,” which translates to “Silence,” serves as a mantra for the singer urging them to keep their emotions bottled up inside, as they watch the flowers slumber peacefully in their garden.
Throughout the song, the singer repeats the same lines, “Duermen en mi jardín," which means "They sleep in my garden," referring to the various types of flowers that inhabit the garden. This phrase reinforces the idea that the singer is looking for comfort in nature and uses the natural world as a metaphor for their internal struggles. The song's simple but powerful message reminds us that sometimes we need to keep our pain hidden to protect ourselves and the people around us, even if it means burying our emotions deep within us.
