The band has kept up the mix of traditional Irish or Scottish songs and self-written tracks, though the self-written tracks have progressively become less and less folky. The band's influences are wide and varied, but obviously heavily influenced by Celtic rock bands like the Pogues, the Waterboys and Great Big Sea. Recent albums also see a clear influence from Gothic rock music. Having enjoyed growing success in and around Germany, the band reached 1000 played concerts in 2004 (the only band member to play them all is bass player Rainer Schulz), which was celebrated with a concert at Castle Hoheneck. This concert was filmed and released on two DVDs: Celebrate! and Jubilate! The concert saw participation from former band members and other guest musicians. Main lyric and music writer Peter Pathos has left the band in summer 2006 and was replaced by Patrick 'Pat' Prziwara. A live DVD Folk's not dead was released to celebrate the band's 20th anniversary in 2010

Don't Let Go
Fiddler's Green Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Her sky was grey and the night was dark
As she went walking right through the night
In search of flaming light
Her mind was lonely, misunderstood
For no one's darling and there she stood
Her face not homely with evil eyes
Baby let's cry out my heart belongs to you now
So come on be mine and don't let yourself go
Baby let's try out our lifes take the same way
So come on be mine now and let your tears go
Me love ran deeper than any sea
We felt together as close as can be
She took me breathless my thoughts they've gone
Like reaching higher ground
I do remember it was her last goodbye
She said: Forgive me, he's a friend of mine
And then she closed with two veily eyes
The door deep in her mind
Baby let's cry out my heart belongs to you now
So come on be mine and don't let yourself go
Baby let's try out our lifes take the same way
So come on be mine now and let your tears go
Oh I love you my friend
So give me your hand
I show you the way
In Fiddler's Green's song "Don't Let Go," the singer describes a broken-hearted woman who is wandering through the night in search of hope and light. Her mind is lonely and misunderstood, as she stands alone with her flame burning inside her. The singer invites her to cry out and offer her heart to him, promising that he won't let her go. He reminisces about their deep love, where they felt closer than ever, and she took his breath away. However, he remembers their last goodbye, where she apologizes for having a friend and closes the door on their relationship. The song ends with the singer expressing his love for his friend and promising to show her the way.

There was a day I knew a broken heart
Once upon a time, there was a heart that had been shattered and was in great pain
Her sky was grey and the night was dark
The world seemed bleak and hopeless to her
As she went walking right through the night
She wandered aimlessly, trying to find her way out of the dark
In search of flaming light
She hoped to find something that would give her warmth and hope
Her mind was lonely, misunderstood
She felt isolated and no one seemed to understand her struggles
For no one's darling and there she stood
She felt unloved and alone in the world
Her face not homely with evil eyes
Although her appearance didn't suggest evil, there was a darkness inside her
The fire down inside
There was a fierce passion and strength within her
Baby let's cry out my heart belongs to you now
Let's express our emotions honestly and openly, I am fully committed to you
So come on be mine and don't let yourself go
Don't give up or lose hope, let's stay together and be strong for each other
Baby let's try out our lifes take the same way

I do remember it was her last goodbye
I recall the painful moment that she left me for good
She said: Forgive me, he's a friend of mine
She apologized for her actions, as she had developed feelings for someone else
And then she closed with two veily eyes
She left with a heavy heart, closing her eyes to hide her sadness
The door deep in her mind
She shut her heart and mind to me, and I knew our relationship was over
Oh I love you my friend
I still care deeply for her, despite the pain and heartache
So give me your hand
Let's reconnect and try to heal our wounds together
I show you the way
I will be there for her and guide her through the darkness, towards a brighter future
